Drudge links to a story in the Financial Times: Chirac to resist control of postwar Iraq by US allies
My question for Chiraq is then: if not the “Coalition of the willing”, is the “axis of weasels” gonna re-build Iraq?
Drudge links to a story in the Financial Times: Chirac to resist control of postwar Iraq by US allies
My question for Chiraq is then: if not the “Coalition of the willing”, is the “axis of weasels” gonna re-build Iraq?
Got this forwarded to me, and found it very touching:
“DO NOT FORGET”
I sat in a movie theater watching “Schindler’s List,” asked myself, “Why didn’t the Jews fight back?”
Now I know why.
I sat in a movie theater, watching “Pearl Harbor” and asked myself, “Why weren’t we prepared?”
Now I know why.
Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people.
On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.
On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to the dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of the rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to understand the motivation of the perpetrators. Major television stations have announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers.
I will not be manipulated.
I will not pretend to understand.
I will not forget.
I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick our country when it was vulnerable and hurting.
I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush’s address to the nation with the snide remark, “No matter how you feel about him, he is still our president.”
I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President Bush’s motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and commented, “We’re all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington.”
And I will not forget that ABC’s Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren’t informed of every little detail of this war, they aren’t “likely nor should they be expected — to show deference.”
I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America.
I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and their supporters with the world’s most sophisticated telecommunications equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America’s ability to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem communications.
I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those perfected by the previous administration.
I will not be comforted by “feel-good, do nothing” regulations like the silly “Have your bags been under your control?” question at the airport.
I will not be influenced by so-called, “antiwar demonstrators” who exploit the right of _expression to chant anti-American obscenities.
I will not forget the moral victory handed the North Vietnamese by American war protesters who reviled and spat upon the returning soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines.
I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose reassurance over reality.
I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told Labor Party conference, “They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it?
There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be defeated by it. And defeat it we must!
I will force myself to: -hear the weeping-feel the helplessness -imagine the terror-sense the panic-smell the burning flesh-experience the loss-remember the hatred.
I sat in a movie theater, watching “Private Ryan” and asked myself, “Where did they find the courage?”
Now I know.
We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living.
— Ed Evans, MGySgt., USMC (Ret.) Not as lean, Not as mean, But still a Marine.
How many months did we give the UN “inspectors”? And how many days have US troops been on the ground? There’s quite a difference, no?
Because according ot the Jerusalem Post, US TROOPS CAPTURE CHEMICAL PLANT
Further proof of the UN’s irrelvance, and Blix’s ignorance
Update Fox News is reporting that the Pentagon has confirmed this find! Now let’s see….President ChIraq and you anti-war liberals, do you see a “smoking gun”?
Okay, just finished laying out the Free Press…..took about 2.5 hours….a good time (and I think a semester record!)
It’s got two great editorials this week…..first off, one by me, in which I make the case against taking out Hussein (I wrote it before we went to war), and how we’re winning the war on terror, despite idiotic dimokrat comments. An added bonus: I quoted Ann Coulter
Another good read is Langer’s article on the faults of the left…..
The political cartoons are two great ones by Cox and Forkum.
And to top it all off, I even wrote a neuroscience article for the paper (on a prosthetic hippocampus). I’ll post the articles online soon.
Blame Israel and/or the J-E-W-S. As this item from the Ha’aretz (English) ticker shows:
15:49 Iraqi FM says Israeli missile found in Baghdad, accuses Israel of taking part war
So this past week a few members of Brandeis’ pro-America group United We Stand have received some jargon and hateful emails from Germany. One of ‘em was a long winded senseless rant…..and I feel like giving it a good Fisking…..so without much more to….tike to Fisk a member of the axis of weasel. The German’s text in italics.
“Oh yes, united you stand. Seems a little bit small, the “coalition of the willing”.
You mean the 2nd biggest coalition in history?
The 250 Kuwaiti princes, Tony “Poodle” Blair (who is the most hated British politician since Henry VIII), the government of Papua-New Guinea, the prime minister of Albania (he`s a true mafioso, he`s doing everything for money, everyone can rent him). Mr. Berlusconi and Mr. Aznar have 90% of the population not on their side.
I didn’t think Kuwait had that many princes, but they support us. PM Blair’s House of Commons voted for War, and his nation supports it. And that’s just two of the 40+ members of the coalition of the willing.
There is not a single country in the word, where a majority of the people is supporting the politics of the present US-administration in the Iraq-case.
Ever heard of the good ‘ol USA: 76% support the effort. And I think that also in Kuwait the majority support it, as they do in Iraq and most likely in Israel.
I came back from the Philippines last week. The poorest street-kids in the slums of Manila wouldn`t take a chewing-gum from me, because they thought, that I was US-citizen.
Prove that to me. And if they thought you were an American, why didn’t you just show them that you sprichen sie deutch
Maybe, the US-Army will win the war against Iraq.
Maybe? Maybe? We’re gonna win…..no question about it.
Maybe the Rumsfelds and Cheneys and their buddies from the great oil companies will lay their hands on the oil wells of Iraq.
Okay, first off, don’t mess with Rummy. Don’t even think about lifting as much of a finger at him….cause he’ll kick your ass. What about VP Cheney? No, the war isn’t about oil. Haven’t you noticed that Oil prices have FALLEN since the war started? Once we win for good in Iraq, there will be a larger supply of oil, and as such, prices will go down because demand won’t increase proportionally. That’s basic economics…..
And then? Bringing “democracy” by B-52`s to Iran? Or to Lybia? Or to France? Or to North Corea? Or -let`s wait and see- destroying all those weapons of mass destruction in …..China?
Let’s see….first off, the IIranian people want us to help them overthrow the Ayatollahs. They want democracy. As for Lybia, Gadaphi is losing power there, and he’s turning senile. North Korea is spelled with a “K”, and Kim Jong Il, the wierdo wearing pajamas is probably getting scared in response to “Shock and awe”. As for France……not a bad idea….but I don’t think we’ll need to do very much for their army to surrender automatically.
Wolfowitz proclaims China as the upcoming sworn enemy of the US.
Your source is? And your point is?
Oh yes, united you stand.
Yes we do
There was so much solidarity here in Europe after the terrible events on 9/11. We gathered with our american friends, we donated money, we sent e-mails to the families in New York.
That’s nice of you Europeans to do, and you should continue to do so.
The Bush-administration has destroyed the strong ties of solidarity between the people of the world and the USA by going into a cruel ,unjust, unlegitimated war against Iraq.
Blah, blah, blah. No, Chiraq destroyed the ties of solidarity allong with Chancellor Schroder. The rest of Europe is on board with the USA. And this war is not: cruel, unjust or illigitimated…you members of the ostritch brigades should take your heads out of the sand more often. Or at least remove your tin-foil hats.
Maybe you are feeling like strong emperors, that will conquer the whole world, just to bring all people the benediction of the “american way of life”.
No, we don’t want to take over the world. We just want to give people FREEDOM, like we did to Germany when the Berlin Wall was torn down. Remember that? Freedom. “[N]o arsenal or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women” — Ronald Reagan
You will have to learn, that most of the people of the world won`t be benedicted by american bombs, tomahawks, cruise missiles, tanks, B52´s,
tiny tactical nueclear bombs and other nice stuff, just to make them part of your world of free enterprise. It´s a lesson of history:
Again, you’re wrong. We aren’t dropping nukes…but he MOAB is rather cool. Sometimes we need to use force to get rid of tyranical dictators–that’s a lesson of history….remember Hitler?
All empires rise – decline – fall – and finally vanish. It will take it`s time, but it`s like nature`s law. Donald Rumsfeld
We aren’t an empire first off. Second: Saddam is a heir to Nazism, one of the “murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions, by abandoning every value except the will to power, they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way to where it ends in history’s unmarked grave of discarded lies.” — George Bush
(by the way, RUMSFELD is german origin and means “field of a big bang”, isn`t that funny ?) proclaims the “american century” , but serious scientists proclaim, that the EMPIRE is beginning to fall and the emperor hasn`t got no clothes.
What don’t you get about not messing with Rummy? He’ll kick your ass! If his name means “field of a big bang” must be refering to the big bang which he’ll unleash on a field of terrorists. And again, who are these serious scientists of whom you speak? And last time I looked, our President (and SECDEF ) had popularity and clothes; but what about Schroder and his party? Aren’t they suffering?
When I read you`re articles with those strong sentences (“We are the greatest”, “God`s own country”, “Our boys will do their job”, “Noone will ever force us”, “Two behavious; to be with us or to be against us” …..) I feel a certain fear behind those words of thunder. Why is there so much fear inside of you ?
What fear are you refering to? We’re not full of hubris like you Germans were before WWI and WWII. We must fear so that we can be ready and alert.
Is your EMPIRE so weak, that you have to put more than 2000 innocent people of arabic origin into jail for more than a year without any possibility of judical assistance?
Stop with this empire balogna already. You must mean the 2000 (cite your number) people arrested for being in this country ILLEGALLY, for overstaying their visas. And yes, they do get immigration lawyers as well. It’s just that the INS is incompetent so there is a backlog in cases.
Is your EMPIRE so weak, that you allow all your secret services to controll in public libraries, what kind of books the people read ?
Our “secret services”, that’s a new one. Are you refering to the Ashcroft Elite Dissent-squashing Storm troopers? (Yes, I know he’s talking about the FBI). Take off your tin-foil hat then. And why are you so woried about the patriot act if you don’t live here? Sure some of us are skeptical about it, but many of us have a hope that theo gov’t will not overstep its boundries.
Is your self-consciousness so cracked, that you tear down even all the waste paper baskets in the Yellowstone National Park, just to prevent
the dropping of the “dirty bomb” by some kind of terrorists ?
Wow, you really wear a big tin foil hat. Where’d you come up with this one?
Yes, united you stand – but it`s getting lonely around you – this wonderful world turns away from you and you don`t realize it. But that`s the problem: Isolated people get first sad, later furious and at last dangerous.
We stand United here, and we’re not isolated either. Perhaps YOU are the isolated one, afterall you seem sad, furious and perhaps you’ll become dangerous.
Last question: Is any one of you upper class students serving in the army ?
I’m registered with Selective Service for the draft. Should the armed forces need me, I will enlist when called upon to do so.
Or do you do it like George W. Bush and leave that bloody job to the sons and daughters of the poor ?
Thank you Rep. Rangel for this B.S. The army is made up of volunteers from all walks of life. And I support my President.
And during that bloody war you make yourself some good days at student`s break in Mexico ?
I dunno about you, but I went home and worked over break. Heck, I’ve never been to Mexico.
Have some nice days and don`t drink so much.”
Have a nice day yourself, and guess what, I don’t drink either. Perhaps it’s you who should lay off the lager.
Because it’s Fair and Balanced of course….just look at this gem from a friek on the planantiwar list
(in response to this article: Anti-war and pro-war groups rally at Brandeis
Thank you for covering our walk-out. I’d just like to point out that I
am a senior – not a junior – a mistake the Brandeis Justice made. Also, I’m
disappointed that a handful of eccentric and opportunistic counter-protesters
got approximately equal coverage with us in the friday article, “Anti-war and
pro-war groups rally at Brandeis.” I think the Anti-War Coalition represents
the overwhelming majority opinion on campus and we worked very hard to
prepare the walk-out and rally so it could happen on such short notice.
Nevertheless, I’m glad the Daily News Tribune has taken so much interest in
political opinion and activity at Brandeis. The press plays an essential
role in our democratic society and encourages us to continue raising our
voices.
On the good side, we’re now eccentric and oppertunisitc (in addition to Crackpots and frieks)
I love the truth:
Good news on the homefront:
Stocks Gain; Dow Has Best Week Since 1982
Gallup Poll: 76% of Americans approve of decision to go to war
So would someone like to tell me, doesn’t this look like democracy in action? Huh? Isn’t that what you anti-war Fifth Column members claimed?
Speaking of which, didn’t you say the Dow would drop when war started? Wern’t oil prices supposed to rise? (They’re down too).
Looks like the Right is right again and knows the truth!
Oh, and guess what I just saw on Fox News: Iraqis celebrating upon liberation by US troops! Suprise!
Breaking News: The NAVY SEALS have just overtaken 2 of Iraq’s main oil wells w/o a shot…..and Saddam had wired ‘em to blow up. Were these to be blown up, they wouldn’t hurt Iraq’s rebuilding economically (as well as providing an enviromental problem).
G-d Bless America and our wise President and his advisors!
He doesn’t want the U.S. and U.K. to have a say in postwar Iraq.
Speaking of sore losers, the Dems are shooting themselves in the foot as DNC asks party to rally behind Daschle…
Incase anyone reads this in time, I may be on the radio (nationwide) this evening on the show: America Live at about 1AM EST/10PM PST.
If anyone is still awake and reads this, I encourage you to tune in!
(This is my first real radio interview, so I have “stage fright” about it)
Update: False alarm; the show didn’t have time for me, as they were running behind schedule…..oh well
From Nat’l Public Palestinian Radio:
5:17 PM News report: Hans Blix admits that he would have never have found all the WMD. Thanks, Hans. Much obliged. I’m guessing that he was paid by the week, not by the discovery; if we’d given him a bonus for Finding Stuff, and the bonus exceeded what he would have made in a year of desultory squinting, we might have had the material breach in week one.
I emerged from the rally without cuts and bruises…I got yelled at by a lot of idiotarians, but I’ll blog more about it later when I have time
it’s back to the pro-US table I go.
Iraq apparently fired SCUD missiles at Kuwait this AM; despite the Iraqi claim (and Hans Bix’s) that they don’t have scuds.
Call me a jingo…….but I LOVE MY COUNTRY. I SUPPORT MY PRESIDENT! I SUPPORT MY TROOPS!
And today’s thursday, making it: Ann Coulter Day!!!
We have begun our war against Saddam, to disarm him, and to liberate Iraq.
May G-d bless America and her allies (especially Israel); the brave troops, and our Commander in Chief and the other leaders of our great nation.
THESE COLORS DON’T RUN!
8PM has come and gone……let’s hear it from the honorable, the Commander In Chief, the President Of the United States of America:
President George W. Bush!!! (cue “Hail to the Chief in the background)!!!
Hooray!!!
Less than 2hrs. and 23 minutes until the ultimatum expires and then it’s time for: BOMBS OVER BAGHDAD!
LET’S ROLL
My club made the Washington Post!!!:
Update: We’ve also made it onto Instapundit!
From Rush:
When I say that ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of force, what you have to consider is that 9-11, the bombing of the USS Cole, the Marine barracks in Beirut, and the 1993 World Trade Center, was the aggressive use of force by our enemies against us – and we are finally now responding.
Wars never come about because we are too strong. It is weakness that invites others to provoke us. Ronald Reagan understood this spot on.
In fact, I want to share two quotes from Ronaldus Magnus that I find very telling given the current climate. You can hear me discuss the following statements as they relate to the present moment, in the audio link below.
“Our policy is simple: We are not going to betray our friends, reward the enemies of freedom, or permit fear and retreat to become American policies. … None of the four wars in my lifetime came about because we were too strong. It is weakness … that invites adventurous adversaries to make mistaken judgments.”
Then there’s this from 1994 – Reagan’s 83rd birthday celebration in Washington. Just see if this isn’t prescient.
“The Democrats may remember their lines, but how quickly they forget the lessons of the past. I have witnessed five major wars in my lifetime, and I know how swiftly storm clouds can gather on a peaceful horizon. The next time a Saddam Hussein takes over Kuwait or North Korea brandishes a nuclear weapon, will we be ready to respond? In the end it all comes down to leadership, and that’s what this country is looking for now.”
If you want to know what leadership is, if you’ve had questions or doubts about what leadership is, you’re witnessing it right now with our president. Can you imagine if somebody like Clinton were still in office or, God forbid, Gore or some of these pretenders that are seeking the Democratic crown? Can you imagine what would be going on if one of those guys were actually running the country now?
