Opening Sunday

So about 875 new first-year and transfer students decended onto the Brandeis campus today. Biggest class ever!

And as an orientation volunteer, I was up at 5:30 (6am Breakfast–mandatory) to help get cars/people onto campus. It was a long day, and I’m very sunburnt (ouch)

Quite a few interesting stories from the day, including a crazy Israeli father, a mother who tried to set me up with her daughter.

But I’m also tired as hell right now…

And…this year’s freshman class is much better looking than classes in years past (alas, there’s no facebook)

Dean on Defense and the Saudis

Via the WaPo

“At the Rotary, Dean insisted he is tougher than Bush on national defense, even if he opposed the war in Iraq. He said he supported the Persian Gulf War, the attack on Afghanistan and, unlike Bush, wants to confront Saudi Arabia over its ties to terrorist groups. “Our oil money goes to the Saudis, where it is recycled and some of it is recycled to Hamas and two fundamentalist schools which teach small children to hate Americans, Christians and Jews,” Dean said. “This president will not confront the Saudis.”

I think Dean forgot to mention that he likes genocidal dictators in power, who also fund such organizations, and that he’d only take action against the Saudis were there a UN resolution.

But seriously, the best thing this can do is push Bush to the right and make him crack down on the Saudis

SCORE!!!

Who doesn’t want their order of dead terrorists done extra crispy?

Among the four Hamas members killed were the group’s liaison between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, two would-be suicide bombers and a fourth militant. All four were members of the group’s military wing, Iz a Din al-Kassam, according to security sources.

Does that also come with a side of fries by any chance?

Bonus: And to ogle over, pictures of a IAF Boeing AH-64A Apaches

My friends are Asshats

Some of my friends wasted money rented on *spit* Michael “Tub o’Lard” Moore’s *spit* waste of film. At least two of my friends liked the piece of shit video (which I refuse to watch). Even one more disheartening thing was that one of these friends was a Texan. [Emperor Misha--are you running an anti-idiotarian re-indoctorination camp soon?].

Some of my friends didn’t finish the film, and are wasting time tonight watching it. Anyone have any good ideas to crash their “movie” enjoyment…I need my VRWC friends to return to campus.

Liberals and Journalism

This piece over at Fox Views expresses a lot of the background behind the liberal attitudes seen in a lot of journalism

An excerpt:

The majority of young men and women who enter journalism do so not because they want to report the news but because they want to make a difference in society. In other words, they want to report certain kinds of news. They do not want to convey facts or explain processes; they want to shine spotlights on abuse. In some cases they are motivated by idealism; in others, by the hope that some of the light will reflect back on them.

‘Nuff said

I’m back

Got my new monitor this afternoon and therefore, I’m back!

Unfortunately, due to time constraints (Services are at 6) I can’t come back to full swing blogging yet.

However, on the bright side, I hope to be able to blog tomorrow night.

News From Brandeis

[Typing on a suitemate's computer--mine is still broken].

For those Brandeis alumni out there, you may enjoy the following piece of news: Deroy (in Massell) is now a Co-ed dorm…I kid you not.

All of Massell and North are First Years, East, Rosenthal and the Castle is for Sophmores, Ridgewood/Ziv and the new quad for Juniors, and Seniors have Ziv the new quad and the Mods.

And RAs are now called “CAs” (Community Advisors) [only at Brandeis...]

But the food still sucks

Back to school…

There me a brief lull in posting here, because I’m heading back to the People’s Republik of Taxachussets, home of Ted “Swimmer” Kennedy and John “French Looking” Kerry (who also served in Vietnam), today actually.

I’m heading back to Brandeis for my senior year. So until I get my computer and other “worldy posessions” back from storage [hopefully today also], I’ll be unable to blog till then.

And on that note, I”m gonna drag my suitcases downstairs.

Dean comes to Cleveland…

So because of the blackout, I guess Dean’s visit to Cleveland didn’t get too much pre-arrival press. No loss there (if you ask me).

But since he came to town….his not going to get away without a nice, through, FISKING (grin)

Bush challenger Dean makes his case to local Democrats

Taking aim at President Bush, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean yesterday declared himself a centrist who cares about traditional Democratic values.

A Centrist? Centrist? According to what political barometer are you a frieking centrist?!?!?! You’re socially far-far (far) left, you want socialist economic policies, are willing to sell out the Constitution to crap like the ICC and the UN, and that’s centrist!?!?!?! And what are these “traditional democratic values”….the world may never know…

“The way to beat George Bush is not to be like him, it’s to give the 50 percent of Americans the reason to vote again,” he said to the group braving a light rain as they stood in the back yard of lawyers Joel and Mary Jane Levin.

You idiot. The more left you go, the more people you alienate. It’s common sense you rool.
Oh, and you’re at an event sponsored by lawyers (nota bene: I’m not fond of lawyers). Oh yes, I forgot, the Dems love to pander to lawyers, especially the sleazy trial ones.

Dean, 54, is one of nine candidates vying for the Democratic Party’s nomination for president. He was in town yesterday to attend two fund-raisers, the open $100-per-person event at the Levin mansion and a more exclusive and pricey event hosted by former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Linda Rocker.

How much did this later event cost? Inquiring minds want to know…

The fund-raiser at the Levin home drew a mixture of people, including peace activists and people who said they were leftist Democrats.

And the difference between those two is……?

Some said they came just to hear what the candidate had to say while others were squarely behind Dean and convinced that he can win next year

First group–you wasted your money. It could’ve been better used. Latter group–lay off the drugs (esp. the hallucinogens).

Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell (D) stopped in briefly to greet Dean, whom she described as a friend. But she declined to endorse him, saying she had a favorite son to consider in U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

Queen “One Term” Jane (as she’s referred to in these parts) is endorsing Denny? Ha! Wow…Queen Jane is really setting herself up for only one term–endorsing one (if not) the city’s worst mayor…ever…

The former five-term Vermont governor, who identifies himself as the only Democratic front-runner who opposed the war in Iraq, said other Democrats have been afraid to challenge Bush

Shouldn’t that read: Dean identifies himself as the Only Dem front runner who openly supported the Saddam regime and its support of terror Something like that.

He also said the Democratic Party “has gone too far to the right.”

By whose barometer? You’re dragging it into the wacko-left area.

He said he wants to bring the party and the country back to the center.

See earlier comments about Dean being a *spit* centrist *spit*

He pointed out that he supported the 1991 war with Iraq and the 2001 war in Afghanistan, but he said Bush failed to justify going to war this year

I’m having a hard time believing that…where’s the proof? And by saying that Dean, you know you alienated some of your consituancy (the lefties against going after the Taliban).

In a 20-minute speech, Dean’s remarks ranged from his call for the United Nations to have a role in the postwar administration of Iraq to his plan for reviving the nation’s ailing economy by balancing the budget, helping small businesses and investing in American infrastructure to create jobs.

The UN? The UN? (Laughing ass off). What has the UN successfully fixed?
And let me paraphrase Dean’s economic plan: raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes (the rest of the promises are simply empty).
He’s also a socialist economically, so remember that.

“If you can’t manage foreign policy and the economy when you are president of the United States, you need to go back to Crawford, Texas,” he told the gathering.

The President is doing both just fine (foriegn policy needs some work…w/ regards to Israel). And they love him in Crawford. Go back to Mountpilliar Dean.

Problems for the Dems?

It looks like the folks in the Green Party want to foil the Dems chances in 2004 (and indirectly assist Bush and the GOP)

This is all while the Dems continue to ceede the Nat’l security issue to the GOP (some things never change) [hat tip to Matt M.] And they’re also being caught in some lies.

And the Dems have also been spouting off about the whole energy blackout topic…too bad that they’re gonna be caught in a trap there too…sometimes for beeing too “green”. Here’s what Rush and Matt Margolis have to say on the topic.
(I was gonna blog on this, but the power outage prevented me from doing so)

Speaking of the Dems, here’s a great theory…If it turns out that the outage indeed started here in Ohio (on Thursday), I think Hillary (who was in town Wed.) may have used too much power to feed her ego and thus started the domino effect…hehehe

A real crisis

I went to my local 7-11 today, and lo and behold, there was a very depressing sight.

Both slurpee machines were down and out of service because of the current water conditions.

This is a crisis! Someone call the Federal Goverment! What good is a 7-11 without slurpees?!?!?
(or at least won’t they make sure that water service is back to normal?)

What a week in Cleveland

Aside from the Blackout…what a week it’s been in Cleveland.

First, on Wed, we had the Senator Bitch from NY State Hillary Clinton in town to sign 900 copies of her ghost written book. Fortunately, some Freepers showed up to ruin her party. (or so the paper said). Heh…gotta love those Freepers.

Second, Howard “I’m a centrist” Dean came to town yesterday. More on that later. Heh.

Saddam’s Sons Drank Israeli Beer

The Zionist Infidels…can’t live with ‘em can’t live w/o ‘em…

According to Ma’ariv, [note: Article is in Hebrew]

“A large quantity of Israeli beer bottles” were found in the villa in Mosul where Uday and Qusay Hussein spent their last weeks, according to the French weekly L’Express.

Heh. Those SOBs were drinking Zionist beer….beer of the infidels. Poetic Justice.

Power is out….it’s back…it’s out again….it’s back again!

So I came home from work yesterday, and the power was out. We were supposively in one of those “rolling blackouts” from 5-7PM.

Yeah, well, if I wanted rolling blackouts, I’d be living in Northern California under the rule of Grayout Davis.

Long story short, there was no end to this rolling blackout, until about 2am (I think).

But now the power is back, but it’s still not safe to drink the water! Argh!

I’m starting to wanna blame someone for this outage…should I choose the communists, the socialists, or the liberals (wait, what’s the difference?)

Interesting news from the DCI (Tennet)

From the Wash Times (and Bill Gertz none the less)

CIA Director George J. Tenet left his digs at Langley last month to travel to Sun Valley, Idaho. There, he gave an off-the-record talk at the annual media conference of Allen & Co., the investment banker to the stars. The doors were closed, but we’ve learned a few tidbits:
•He still firmly believes there are weapons of mass destruction hidden in Iraq, that they have not left the country and that the United States will find them.
The U.S. searchers recently found scores of buried jet fighters in Iraq, leading officials to believe there is lots of stuff still underground.
•The CIA has access to the Iraqi technician who designed mobile labs used to produce biological weapons. The Iraqi’s description of the labs matched the two trailers found by coalition forces in Iraq. The Iraqi maintains he designed the labs for one purpose — to make weapons.
•He said 65 percent of al Qaeda’s leaders have been killed or captured.
Al Qaeda leaders were stunned that U.S. forces came after them in Afghanistan after September 11.

Two major lessons:
1) STFU lefties, the mobile labs wern’t for weather balloons.
2) Al-Queda was stunned? Good. They shouldn’t have messed with the US!
