15 minutes–too many–of fame
Remember Joseph Wilson? Yeah, the husband of CIA worker/agent Valarie Plame, whose identity was released or perhaps “blown” by Bob Novak a while ago?
He’s the guy who supposively went to examine reports that Iraq sought to reconstitute its nuclear weapons program with uranium from Africa. And when he came back he became a hero of the anti-war left for his claims that launched a public firestorm that the administration had manipulated intelligence to build a case for war. He has said that his trip to Niger should have laid to rest any notion that Iraq sought uranium there and has said his findings were ignored by the White House.
He also wrote a book….although when it came out it didn’t get the major coverage that Bob Woodward or Richard Clarke’s books did.
Well it turns out that Mr. Wilson was not exactly telling the truth.
In light of the Senate Intel Commte.’s report that was released friday, the WaPo is reporting that Wilson’s trip actually provided more support to the idea that Saddam sought nuclear material from Africa.
Looks like Wilson got his 15 mintes of fame….just 15 minutes too many.
