Imagine if there were cane beatings going on in the Senate–C-SPAN would have ratings through the roof! Even if they’re staged like pro-wrestling, it would make goverment so much more entertaining (and perhaps productive–as they’d actually be doing something besides inflating their egos).

And then the special pundit battles–heck, those could even go on a PPV type of system (the wierd things my mind comes up with when my neurons aren’t firing correctly). Heh.

There were some real yutzos in my class, who wanted to focus on the duel, down to the specifics. Then again these same kids also wanted to re-enact the beat down w/ a cane that took place in the Senate in the 1860s.

Oh my god, I had those people in my AP class too! They’re a special kind of breed. (Except, these particular idiots took things a step further and decided to try to stage an episode of Jerry Springer using Burr, Hamilton, and the cane beating guys (I can never remember their names… I always just think “John C. Calhoun” but I don’t think that was him haha). BTW that reminds me of your earlier post about Clinton’s outrage over Cheney’s “fuck yourself” comment. Haha there should be some more cane beatings on the Senate floor, methinks. It would be so cathartic. Ted Kennedy and say, Bill Frist or something… fun times, fun times… (hey we could bring back those fights to the death between Robert “I’ll bite your legs off” Reich and Ann “SnagVag” Coulter… speaking of crazy urges)

I actually stumbled across the story by accident. But it brought back memories of AP US History back in HS. There were some real yutzos in my class, who wanted to focus on the duel, down to the specifics. I guess I should’ve clarified with this analogy: Diet Pepsi is to my house what beer is to Homer Simpson. We’ve been known to stock up heavily on 2 liter bottles when they’re on sale (esp. when they’re only 79 cents each!) And don’t think that we aren’t chuggers too

I can’t blame WGBH for closing…at least I’ll know that during that week I won’t be the only one stuck at home with all sorts of crazy urges.

ha! I saw that and was actually going to comment on your blog this morning with the link to the story… (I’m working on a film proposal on the history of Wall Street and the article came up in my research)

As for the Edwards Diet Coke/Pepsi thing… I am much more on the fence about which one is better… I usually buy which one is on sale , although I do agree that Pepsi does have that extra “something” that Coke lacks. Then again, I’m more of one who chugs it rather than relishes in its taste…

Just found out that WGBH (the Boston PBS station) is closing up for the week of the Convention… which means I get to work “from home” with 13 and 14 year old boys running rampant. Looks like I’ll be relishing in homicidal urges…
