On writing history

Filed under: Politics — Jaws @ 11:31 pm

Something I’ve been throwing around in my head recently.

With regards to the whole “Bush Lied” meme (and it’s respective variations).

There’s been a lot of debate around the blogsphere as to whether or not weapons were indeed found; or significant elements of a program (I’m too tired to find the relevant links right now) or if nothing ever existed and the intel was pure rubbish.

One article I recently saw was that there are a large volume of documents that were seized from Saddam’s Regime, that are sitting having yet to be translated.

What do these documents discuss or contain–I don’t know. I’ve heard rumors about their subject material. (Emphasis on the word “rumors”).

So without knowing what these papers say or contain, are we being premature in passing judgement about what transpired and/or existed?

What do you think?
(More thoughts to come along these lines–about writing history and the subsequent revelations of documents are forthcoming….when I’m not so tired).
