Okay, it may be a slow news cycle, but why was Matt Drudge making such a big deal out of some “x” on Cheney on CNN?
Perhaps the VP is training for a post office stint on Hollywood Squares??
CNN says it was a computer bug of sorts…..wonder if it was a bug similar to the one infecting West SoHo’s Blue Train of Death
A continuation of a thought from yesterday
about the writing of history and the release and revelation of subsequent documents.
For discussion: The release of the Venona papers and their contents; have they reshaped our thoughts on the era?
Something I’ve been throwing around in my head recently.
With regards to the whole “Bush Lied” meme (and it’s respective variations).
There’s been a lot of debate around the blogsphere as to whether or not weapons were indeed found; or significant elements of a program (I’m too tired to find the relevant links right now) or if nothing ever existed and the intel was pure rubbish.
One article I recently saw was that there are a large volume of documents that were seized from Saddam’s Regime, that are sitting having yet to be translated.
What do these documents discuss or contain–I don’t know. I’ve heard rumors about their subject material. (Emphasis on the word “rumors”).
So without knowing what these papers say or contain, are we being premature in passing judgement about what transpired and/or existed?
What do you think?
(More thoughts to come along these lines–about writing history and the subsequent revelations of documents are forthcoming….when I’m not so tired).
Is Zarqawi Dead? I dunno…rumors are abound, and you know how rumors are.
But here’s the way I see it:
If he’s dead…all the better
If he’s not dead (yet)…at least 8 other al-queda terrorists are dead.
Forbes.com:
The Jews made a representation with Latkes!
I’m suprised that Sufganiyot didn’t make the list though
There are ways to enjoy these foods and keep your waistline in check though (/shameless lifetime member plug)
ยป US consumer 500 mln cups of coffee a day
One of the many interesting factoids:
Coffee is the second largest commodity in the world – next to oil.
Hmmm…what about Coffee powered cars?

Mass. Warns Whole Foods On Thanksgiving
I don’t know which is dumber….Shaw’s supermarkets compalianing about this (and the basis of their argument) or the threat that the State AG’s office issued.
O-H-I-O!
25-21! What a game!
(More serious analysis to follow, but it’s celebration time)
How about running Jum Tressel for governor in ’06? eh?
More serious thoughts: Where were the Buckeyes’ special teams today? I mean things looked bad for them when Houston missed that PAT. But what’s with Ginn Jr. not being able to handle the ball on punts? He’s been having htis problem a lot recently.
Troy Smith showed up for the game and delivered accordingly. The defense for the Bucks–what else is there to say? They shut down Michigan’s running game, and had the Wolverine’s not received good field position off turnovers.
Happy Birthday to Mark Kilmer, of Rightsided.org and his excellent newsletter: The Rightsided Newsletter
Go wish him a happy birthday!
Jay at Accidental Verbosity also notes some birthdays today
That’s all you need to know folks
Michigan Sucks
Michigan vs. Ohio State
Did you know it all started over control of Toledo? Yeah–Ohio won that one too! GO BUCKS
Count me in amongst the ranks of those who don’t quite grasp the whole point of the new “Open Source Media” project/endeavor.
The name itself is rather lame. Upon first hearing the name, it sounds more like the title of a tech news service about…what else…Open Source Software!
Nor am I sure what exact purpose the site is to serve. Others have written their questions out better so I’ll defer to them
Drudge had this story from this week’s NY Jewish week up earlier today:
To which Jonah Goldberg of NRO responded:
Is making a horrible, horrible mistake. Indeed, it strikes me as a form of cowardice to turn your energies against philo-Semtic Christian conservatives at a moment when real anti-Semitism is thriving in so many other quarters [--emphasis mine]. Liberalism isn’t Judaism and Judaism isn’t liberalism. He’d be well advised to keep that in mind, for the sake of Jews and liberals alike.
Funny he should mention that, since the other front page story on the Jewish Week was:
French Jews Worry Violence May Spread
Concern they migpht become ‘scapegoats’ if rioting takes on anti-Israel tone.
If you read the Jewish Week article, I do think Foxman is over reacting. Yes, the Religious Right seems to be ganing influence, but that influence doesn’t necessarilly translate into anything substantive. I agree with many of those quoted towards the end of the piece.
Some related thoughts over at The Corner here and here withwhich I’m inclined to agree with–why aren’t these questions being asked?
that this week more than ever, Michigan sucks!
Reminder: Saturday is the big game; OSU-Michigan, which has to be one of the if not the best rivalry in sports.
When you go below ground it’s dry…
When you exit, oh, 30 blocks or so later, it’s raining cats and dogs…and you had no clue
An interesting discussion is taking place over at Brewed Fresh Daily, with regards to the media–where do you get your facts from?
Head over to the thread and comment
I officially hate hipsters
This is something that I should probably try to flesh out into a longer more thoughtful post, but for the time being, this random assortment of thoughts will have to suffice.
With the President and his administration actually going on a PR offensive, there’s been a lot of buzz going on amongst blogs about attempts to rewrite history over Politicians statements on Iraq prior to invasion.
Some have accused the Democrats as a whole of trying to backtrack and in a CYA effort are trying to distance themselves from their previous statements.
However, in this age of the Internet and Google, is it really possible to get away with this kind of thing? With the ability to look up quotes or search the Congressional Record from the convenience of one’s home computer, can the politicians really get away with their backpeddling?
The Browns-Steelers game is on ESPN this evening so I thought it would be a treat to finally get to watch the Browns.
Besides Droughns , watching the Browns hasn’t been much of a treat; rather it has been quite dissapointing. Especially the defense in the 2nd Quarter.
Why aren’t they letting Charlie Frye take some reps under center?
