Proof that there’s still a lot of NEO in me:

First thought when I saw this headline:

KT’s Black Helicopters

I don’t even think that a virulent anti-Clinton political hack like Dick Morris would throw out such a crazy idea.

Nonetheless, potential Republican challenger for Sen. Clinton’s seat Kathleen “KT” McFarland has put on her tinfoil hat and broadcast from it for all to see/hear.

From today’s NY Post Cover Story “She’s Spying on Me”:

A Republican challenger to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is bizarrely claiming that the former first lady has been spying in her bedroom window and flying helicopters over her house in the Hamptons, witnesses told The Post yesterday
….
“Hillary Clinton is really worried about me, and is so worried, in fact, that she had helicopters flying over my house in Southampton today taking pictures,” according to a prominent GOP activist who was at the event.

Here’s the coverage from Urban Elephants

McFarland and her campaign defend themselves here saying it was a joke; however, from the Post’s coverage, many in attendance didn’t think the comments were in jest.

Now, the underlying logical explanation of these claims–were they rooted in fact:

–McFarland lives in the Hamptons; many celebs like ot commute to their houses in the Hamptons for the weekends. Since they’re too good to commute on the LIE like normal people.

–The camera person–I dunno. Perhaps a very amature-AP/Reuters photowire wannna be?

Politically Incorrect Mathematics

Today’s snarky, un-PC, math question:
(Double-bonus word problem format)

Were one to deploy a team of ICE agents to one of these “immigration logestlation” protests , what percentage of those protesting would be arrested for being here illegally? (Assume an adequate supply of ICE personell in your calculation).

Domenech and Plagarism

Filed under: Politics — Jaws @ 11:20 pm

From what I’ve gathered from what I”ve read today, it seems like the story of the day was the resignation of Ben Domenech from the WaPo’s blog website in lieu of past charges of plagarism.

Now should these charges be true (which there are signs they may be) then it was the right thing for him to have done. I think that if you’re going to affiliate yourself with a major publication, you should not have a history of plagarism–as that’s pretty much the cardinal sin of the industry (or is faking sources/stories worse? Or equal?)

Even in light of this devleopment, I agree with the many others out there that hte WaPo shouldn’t shut down the idea of a “Red America” style blog. There are other potentail voices out there who could fill the vacant spot left by Domenech.

Some bloggers have even started promoting themselves for the position.

Poorly playing the Jew card

Filed under: Moonbats and Wingnuts,New York City — Jaws @ 10:32 pm

I’m not quite sure what exaclty to say about Mayor Bloomberg’s playing the Jew card in defense of the head NYC prison service Imam, who was criticized for making (moonbatish and absurd remarks.

This isn’t as much of an issue about “Free speech” as it is about whom public employees are ultimately responsible to–the public.

Now here’s a question for the creatively minded out there: what would Jeans designed for Jews look like?

“Building” support

The UN (or it’s arts/pr department) have decided to take a cheap shot at everyone’s favorite plastic building blocks LEGO

Now as I said when the Cartoon-kerfuffle (isn’t that the word of the day? I heard somewhere that hte prez used it in his presser)–why not support the Danes by buying Legos?

Looks like this calls for a pro-Lego movement? Eh?

Trader Joes Trek

Filed under: New York City — Jaws @ 7:37 pm

So I went down to Union Square with the hopes of going into Trader Joes. Little did I expect there to be a line almost a block long outside of the store to enter Trader Joes!

Semeing that it’s cold and windy out, I decided that Trader Joes can wait for another day. (I didn’t have a pair of gloves handy either). But while I was at Union Square, I figured I’d make the most of my time. I paid a visit to Strand among other places.

Out of curiosity, I also paid a visit to Whole Foods, only to find out that the line TO check out stretched from the registeres around the back of the store to the enterance. I decided to skiop that too.

CraigsList gets a bad name

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 3:29 pm

I don’t see how stories like this one linked to by Drudge (via the Miami Herald) are such “big news”: Ads offer to swap rent for sex

Memo to those sitting in the newsrooms out there, perhaps you are living in a bubble; but there are wierdos out there in society, and they happen to post on websites, including Craig’sList. Heck, there are wierdos who take out ads in the newspaper as well.

Just because CL may be hurting your classified’s section’s revenue doesn’t mean you should go after it over the isolated acts of stupidity that you stumble across.

An Israeli foot-in-mouth moment

Filed under: Israel,Moonbats and Wingnuts — Jaws @ 3:24 pm

From an Israeli wingnut (far-far-far-rightist):

The bird flu outbreak in southern Israel is God’s punishment for the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank disengagement, National Jewish Front Chairman Baruch Marzel says.

“You were punished by God and now you’ll have to ask for the forgiveness of Gush Katif residents,” Marzel wrote in a letter to southern residents whose communities were affected by bird flu.

Pat Robertson was unavailable for comment.

Patriot Act Game Pokes Fun at Government

This was all but inevitable I suppose, especially with all the different manifestations of Monopoly on the Market (City version, team versions, movie and cartoon editions, commemorative ones–see here for a list of some) and other controversial creations like Ghettopoly

I guess the only question is–what took so long for this game to be created?
