Back it Elementary/Middle school, it was:
My Very Educated Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas.
Now it looks like our very educated mothers will be won’t be sending sending us Pizzas. (Or any P-things for that matter).
One can only wonder what thoughts are running through the minds up textbook publishers now (new books=more $$$?)
Coming in at #7 on America’s drunkest cities…..Cleveland?
Well, for comparisoni’s sake, Columbus was #4…
Hillarious comment over at /., as reported by Seen on Slashdot:

Mixing up this O’Reilly with this other O’Reilly…priceless
Latest poll shows a scant 17% job approval!
And 08 wannabe (but has no chance) Pataki is at 42%

NYP: Eye on Cancer Zones
It could all merely be coincidental.
Though I’ve got a bad feeling that the conspiracy mongers are going to start pointing to this place as the culprit.
So the August 22nd catastrophe hasn’t come to be.
Seems like the the Y2K armagedon hype all over again….
For Exercise in New York Futility, Push Button
I don’t think I’ve seen too many push buttons here in the city. Wouldn’t really bother pushing ‘em anyway…the lights seem to work on their own pattern anyway….that is if one decides to wait for the lights.
Religious Jews Can Be Tough Customers for Brokers
Jews also like dealing with Ethical individuals, which considering the majority of brokers out there are not in this category….makes ‘em even finickier.
Is the news cycle really slow right now? Or is there some sort of tabloid-news sweeps taking plalce?
Between the coverage of the Jon-Bennet Ramsey case, and the whacky guy…just look at the NY Post today:
How sleazy sugar dad wanna bes ‘shop’ for spice girls
Chelsea blocks drown in flow of booze (W. 23rd st)
And to think I’ve not even gotten to reading the Daily News yet!
It looks like it’ll make Ann Coulter’s latest book look “tame” by comparison.
Another Pat Buchanan diatribe is about to be published
*rolls eyes*
That mean I get to trek uptown and grab the mail for work, then take an extremely slow train or bus (they’re equally slow b/c of construction on the rails) to the office to drop off the mail–and while I”m there, I’ll probably take care of some other stuff.
I need to get myself some new shoes, the current ones are falling apart. Where’s a good place (yet inexpensive) to get Men’s shoes in the city? DSW? Century 21?
(Oh, if only the trains were running normally on the weekends….if only)

A lot of the headlines coming out of Israel right now, souds like they’re echoing the thoughts of the Israeli populus following the Yom Kippur War:

Was watching Sports Center earlier today, where they were discussing the Little League WOrld Series and the results of the games playef.
Interestingly enough in the international division, there’s a team from Saudi Arabia! Never knew they played baseball over there in the ME.
Yummy!
Though I don’t always think of Gardenburger brand when I think of Veggieburgers in general (I tend to like Morningstar Farms and/or Boca burgers), here’s a review of Gardenburgers from Slashfood
Following on the heels of yesterday’s post about the claims by some Starbucks workers of unsanitary conditions, and the reports that 44 of ‘em have received unsanitary scores from the Dept of Health, I decided to look up some of the Starbucks near where I live.
(Not that I ever patronize ‘em mind you, but why not have some fun?)
Suprisingly, most of the Starbucks scored very low on the scale (with 0 being the best). The infraction points came for trivial things, like not displaying certain posters or licenses.
THis leards me to think that these claims are more motivated by the politics of it all, than the facts.
Haven’t watched much TV recently. It’s summer time, so I’ve been outdoors more, not to mention busier than usual with work among other things. Plus summer means reruns of most shows.
One thing I’ve not viewed in a long time has been cable news (well most TV news); but has there been much to really watch about?
Right now the channels are probably undergoing wall-to-wall coverage of the Ramsey murder arrest (Yawn). That and probably idle speculation about the ’06 elections, and then even greater speculation about the ’08 elections.
Has there been anything really novel and noteworthy?
NYT: Eye on Election, Democrats Run as Wal-Mart Foe
Now how many of these politicos do you think have ever shopped at a Wal-Mart? Do they understand why so many consumers like shopping there? (Probably not).
Why don’t they rail against a chain like, oh, Starbucks!?
Perhaps another reason to avoid Starbucks (if these claims are at all to be believed):
Chronic infestations of roaches, rats and other vermin in NY STARBUCKS stores…
While the source(s) are dubious–it still provides another excuse not to patronize Starbucks–and their overpriced coffee!
(I’m a coffee drinker who likes his coffee black; so I don’t need any of the fancy concoctions that Starbucks offers)
