There goes the Ninja vote
Edwards has stake in $500 Million booty
Ninjas and their fans will no doubt be disappointed.
The discovery of sunken treasure is rather cool–especially that has been under the sea for who knows how long.
Walk-in medical clinics
FT: Wal-Mart health clinics divide US medics
The headline is a bit misleading–it’s not just Wal-Mart who has expressed interest in setting up such clinics–major drug stores like CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens have done this too.
As for the article itself, it presents a balanced view of the subject at hand. Probably the biggest fear on some doctor’s/practice’s parts are the potential loss in revenue. However, at the same time, having another outlet to take care of more of the “mundane” appointments/occurrences, could save doctors (and their offices) time and money.
For example, the basic “able to work” physical that some places require; or the “ok to participate” physical for youth sport participation. (Having been through these types of things, it’s a very quick in-and-out process).
One major factor in the success or failure of these Clinics will be the response of major insurance providers. Will the providers cover visits to these clinics–or even encourage subscribers to go there?
One of the Duane Reade locations near me has such a “Ready Clinic” (their name for it). The first iteration of the Clinic didn’t appear to have done so well, as it closed up. However, now in it’s place is an “office” of a doctor that provides basic medical services that doesn’t take insurance. It’ll be interesting to see if/how it survives/performs.
Cross-town entertainment
Looks like it’s not just in Cleveland where we joke about having to have one’s pasport ready to cross town:
Bus driver: Attention ladies and gentlemen, the next stop is Fifth Avenue. Please have your passports ready for inspection.
–79th St Crosstown Bus
(via Overheard in NY)
The exception being that you’re more likely to cross town in NYC then in Cleveland

Smelly Hippies
German authorities use scent tracking to keep tabs on G-8 protesters
Well, some of the kooky-envirowackos don’t shower, claiming that they save water that way….so this could make sense
Misplaced priorities in Albany
(hmm….that title could have quite a few chapters)
Having fixed everything else that ails the State, the “bright-minds” of the State Senate have decided to pass legislation regarding “video game violence”
Mistake of Muni Wi-Fi
AP: Municipal Wi-Fi Networks Run Into Financial, Technical Trouble
While there is a novelty to Municipal Wi-Fi, the “cons” seem to outweigh the “pros”.
Slow speeds/low bandwith, no encryption, service costs to subscribers (and the local government).

Part of the game
This is just silly:
The kid got hurt when he slid into second.
Injuries are part of the game of baseball. Just look at the Yankee’s pitching rotation!
Furthermore, the injury referred to in the suit took place 3 years earlier

Big Buisness thoughts
With regards to the proposed immigration bill….
A thought/question:
What is “big business’” feelings on the matter? After all, they’re the ones who supposively like using illegal immigrants as “cheap labor”.
Were citizenship to be granted to these same workers, then “Big buisness” would have to treat them in accordance with labor laws and standards. In as much, reducing the buisness advantages previously afforded.
So where does “big buisness” stand on all this?
On the immigration bill
Briefly….count me among the many who dislike the new immigration bill
In short, it’s an insult to all those who’ve immigrated to the country legally.

More Clinton NYC sitings
Looks like there’ll be no need for me to turn in my VRWC membership card…
As Rush Limbaugh also ran into Bill Clinton here in NYC
In other news: parents still in town…..

Spotted: Bill Clinton
I couldn’t believe it, but I happend to see Bill Clinton in person today at a Midtown hotel. He was going downstairs on an elevator, and appeared all of the sudden surrounded by secret service men.
He looked very good in person–and it was just such a suprise.
(Does this mean I have to turn in my VRWC membership card?)
Things we do for family
(there’s a bigger story behind this post, but when I’m not so warn out I’ll post it).
The things we do for family….oh man…..
Today it was crossing Midtown Manhattan in traffic in both directions between 9-1oam…..and that’s only the start of it….
