Reuters: Huckabee angers some Catholics
Will this fight within the religious right hurt the GOP?
Wow…today’s HITT session was brutal. Not sure why, but at one point (towards the end) I had a burning sensation in my chest (first time this happened).
Then I was just wiped out. Even worse than usual. Blah.
Came home (after going to the grocery to get me some veggies!) and fell right asleep. [Heck, it's what I do best, no?]
An interesting piece in the WSJ about the origins and revival of the fruitcake.
A much abhorred/loved item that goes with Christmas.
Still no answer for the neon-colored “fruit”
Do you ever find yourself over-thinking things? Pouring over the details too much rather than “just getting it done”?
/was just thinking about that
I figure that the best thing to do this weekend would be to avoid major retail areas (because of the last-minute crowds). However, what non-major retail area is there here in Manhattan?
Did you hear about the FedEx truck that was car-jacked in Midtown Manhattan?
It happened at West 46th St and 11th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. I didn’t hear about it, until our FedEx account representative called us and told me about it. Then I hit Google news, to find that stories were just coming online about it.’
It turns out that the driver was found in Greenpoint (Brooklyn) and the truck itself in Williamsburg (Brooklyn)
As it would happen, my company had about 20+ packages on that truck, most of which were corporate Christmas gifts! So if (in the slim chance) any major individuals in the Pharmaceutical industry happen to be reading this, please note that your gift is still on it’s way…it just took a bit of a detour.
Not sure why, but I’ve been feeling a lot more fatigued lately (yes, even more than usual).
Maybe it’s from working out so hard? Or perhaps I need to start adding more to my diet. Should it be the latter, suggestions are welcome.
My lack of energy is why things have been so light around here.
It’s time for me to shake things up with myself.
This book that the NYT just wrote up, “Overtreated” sounds like it may be quite an interesting read.
Working in both the medical and pharmaceutical fields has really opened my eyes further into how the system works (note: most people really have no idea), so I’m curious to see the book’s thesis.
Thursday…one day closer to Friday…
It’s an upper-body day in the gym tomorrow. Not as brutal, but still tough.
Then at work, lord only knows what I’m in for. It’s nearing the time of the month, where I raise my “Threatcon” levels, as I work in an office full of females (catch my drift?). Hopefully, I’ll be up and about the office, rather than at my desk itself. Oh boy….
Then tomorrow evening, I think I’ll make a Whole Foods run. Not sure what exactly I want, but, that’s one of the few places I find good produce and a lot of my favorite healthy foods (in addition to Trader Joe’s that is)
A post from my cousin’s blog, about her experience with an early morning fire drill
What kind of twisted person though, holds a fire drill at 7:20AM?
Just What We Needed Dept: Canned Oxygen
This will likely target the same groups who purchased DVD rewinders
Why is Drudge running a “teaser” headline with a story from the National Enquirer?
Lower body day (yay squats!)
Superset 1:
Back-squats 3×8 @ 195lb
Leg-Press 3×10 @ 415 (+ wt of sled)
Superset 2:
Good-mornings, 2×10 @ 110 (db), 1x 10 @ 105 (bb)
Swiss-ball glute extension and curl: 3×10
Superset 3
Calf raise: 1×10 @ 80, 90 and 100
Weighted d/c situp: 3×10 @ 35lbs
It was evident by the third set of good-mornings that I’d neared pushing my limits in this workout. The leg-press is a new PR for me. Had some mobility problems with the squats, couldn’t get totally A2G, perhaps tomorrow’s foam rolling will help. Sit-ups need to be a bit more challenging. Make it more of a decline and/or up the weight?
At long last, 2nd Avenue Deli has reopened!
Just, um, not on 2nd Avenue…but still…
If not most of the NYC vote:
In a story in today’s New York Times Magazine, the reporter, Zev Chafets, offers to take Mike Huckabee for lunch to any restaurant in New York. Huckabee first requested T.G.I. Friday’s. Chafats vetoed that, so they ended up at Huckabee’s second choice, the Olive Garden

Gym: HGM Phase 2 advanced, week 3, upper body
(Supersets of: bent-over row/neutral grip pull-up; incline bench/dips, cable upright row/overhead press)
Work: The usual Monday madness….more drama with the girls….
Eye doctor appointment: lots of lights being shined into my eyes. Hopefully no dilating of the pupils.
Then back to work….
My prediction: the gym is going to be the easiest part of the day.
Nasty Nor’easter Pounds NYC With Sleet, Rain, Wind
Eh, wasn’t too bad. Been through worse.
And I even made it to the gym…
It’s just more media FUD-ing….
