Back to the routine

Filed under: Politics — Jaws @ 10:30 pm

Flew home this morning, on a much easier flight then the trip down to Florida.

The wedding was very, very nice (Mazel tov to the new couple).

Went back to work and had a lot of catching up to do from Friday (translation: a lot of paper and boxes to move).

Later this week, the Mom and Brother are coming to visit, so it’s more family time.

Now it’s time to go slice and dice myself some veggies!

(Normalcy to hopefully return in the near future)

Wedding Day

Off to a wedding all evening….back in NYC tomorrow

Pirates of the beach

From the front page of this morning’s Miami Herald:

Pirates Feast of Bootleg Films and CDs

Obviously it’s a slow news cycle down here.  Second, with all the winter “snowbirds” here, many of whom are from NYC, you don’t think they’re aware of pirate DVDs? After all, on the subway, it’s “D-Veh-D…5 dolla”.  Third, there’s also the internet…

I can has sunburnz?

Filed under: Politics — Jaws @ 9:06 pm

Greetings from Miami Beach…

The aufruf today was very nice.  Even nicer was the chance to relax on the beach after lunch.

Problem was, I didn’t pack any sunscreen…whoops…(does Duane Reade even sell the stuff this time of year?).  Hopefully I’ll escape un-charred.  The water was very nice.

Not sure what’s in store for me tonight (yet)….

Greetings from Miami Beach

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 6:36 pm

Okay, the trip down here sucked.  Big time.

Beautiful weather here in Miami, but the flight was a mess, then the hotel totally screwed up our reservations (meaning no beach time today).  Now I’ve got to scramble to get ready for dinner, and I’ll likely miss davening.  (Not good)

More on this later

Headed down to Miami Beach this weekend for a family wedding.

In fact, I’ve got to go start packing now…

Good gym day

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 10:37 pm

Got to the gym this morning, and while doing some warm-up cardio, I noticed that the floor looked different.  Things had been re-arranged.

Where there’d once been a smith machine (which went awol) there’s now a power rack!  Hooray!

Also set a new pr on wide grip bench press, but, the new equipment is more exciting.

Oh, and my foam roller arrived!  Happy Days

Paranoia Primary

Looks like Dennis Kucinich may have his tin-foil hat on a wee bit too tight, as he’s asking for the DHS to investigate his (Congressional) primary opponent
Is he in that much political trouble back home? Or has he lost it even more than usual? [or both]

FDA gives OK to cloned meat
More importantly to some of us, what do the Rabbis say?  Is a cloned [Kosher] animal still Kosher?

Tuna Tuesday

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 9:53 pm

Tonight’s kitchen adventure was to cook tuna steaks.

All I used was a bit of garlic pepper seasoning, a pan and some olive oil.

The experiment was a success!

Next time around, I’m leaning towards adding some new flavoring to the mix.  Any suggestions?

Off-day in the gym

Filed under: Personal — Jaws @ 10:13 pm

Yeah, hit the gym this morning, as usual.  Unfortunately, something within me, my body (and grip strength) were not clicking.
Had some problems with the snatch-grip deads, so I had to go lighter on the weights then I wanted.

On the bright side, my pull-up (neutral grip) streak is up to 5, and I successfully completed a 5×5 series!

Save your money

A silly titled press release: Drug-free answer to the relief from snoring
The solution?  According to the company, a “ring”, worn on the finger.

No, nor is it indicated for use in individuals with
sleep apnea.  (While snoring is often a cardinal symptom of OSA, the two can be exclusive).

Sadly, out there, people will jump for this product.

Snow-storm

Filed under: New York City — Jaws @ 9:40 pm

The weather forecasters here in NYC have miffed again on their prediction of a snow storm.

Woke up this morning, and the streets were devoid of any snow.  Nor was there any precipitation.

Snow day?

Filed under: New York City — Jaws @ 11:05 pm

Will it actualy be as bad as they’re hyping this storm up to be?

(Prediction: probably not, but there’s not much other news to really report on)

Upset Sunday

The Chargers and the Giants winning?  Who would’ve predicted that?

Vegtable-tales

Filed under: New York City,Personal — Jaws @ 7:38 pm

Sunday is usually grocery shopping day for me. My usual destination is Trader Joe’s, which is one of my favorite stores, hands-down.

Trader Joe’s was out of broccoli and celery by the time I was there, nor did they have any cucumbers.  *Sigh*

So this evening I figured I’d just swing by the local Associated to grab some cucumbers and celery.  Go in–no cucumbers or broccoli!  What gives?!?!

Trek up to Gristide’s, one of the “Mega-Stores” no less–yes cucumbers, no celery.

Finally, hit a bodega, and get my celery at long last.

Why can’t the grocery stores around here have the basic green veggies in stock?

Being on time

Filed under: Personal — Jaws @ 5:13 pm

The sister says that the two of us were to meet at 11am today.  Me, being the older, responsible, punctual child, is ready way before 11.

11 rolls around, I’m aiting at home…nothing….nothing

Send and email and a text message…still nothing.

3pm finally get a call.  Told to go pick up all the supplies on my own, and then she’ll be around sometime after 5pm.

At that rate, I could’ve had the whole painting job done by now.  Sigh.
