This past week has destroyed me both physically and mentally.
The mental component was my frustration over some major chutzpah at work mostly. Combined with a hard week in the gym.
The physical side was from, well, the gym! 3×15 squats and RDLs this morning (antagonist sets mind you)–almost made me vomit a few times over. Would I do it again–you sure as hell bet I would!
Time to go soak my wounds and try to prevent (or at least ameliorate) tomorrows DOMS
Simply put, the Pentagon’s successful missile hit last nigh is jut cool in the sci-tech-geek sort of way.
Michelle Obama:
Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.
Ronald Reagan:
The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
Once again, the Gipper nailed it! I’d rather be uninvolved and uninformed if it’s going to be the government trying to get involved in my life.
It’s really frustrating when you’re told that an event needs prepared for at literally the last minute; when the party telling you this, has previously known about said event for a good amount of time.
It’s really frustrating when someone who should be a team-player isn’t one in the clutch.
It’s really frustrating to be yanked in so many directions at the same time, that one’s head spins.
/Was one of those days.
Me thinks it’s time for me to try and step up my cullinary skills just a little bit. Nothing extravagant, but just a more solid grasp of the major basics of cooking.
Any ideas of how best to do this?
Castro steps aside
Adios Senor El Dictator Castro y no hasta luego!
The City has decided to even serve its prisoners healthy foods–healthy yet bland
Though the food is bland, prisoners have been known to come up with creative ways of cooking things, such as “Rikers Macaroni and Cheese” (better known as “spread“)
Anyone know why there were some police helicopters circling the UES (high 70s/low 80s-between the river and Lex) this evening? Spotlight included?
Still never cared much for birthdays.
Went to dinner with the sister at Atlantic Grill–very, very, very good fish.
Since I don’t have anything really planned for my Birthday (honestly, I don’t make a big to do of it) and I have to be at work (yes, we’re open)…gotta make the day special some how.
So at 6am it’s gonna be Deadliftis with an antagonist set of front squats! Yay Deadlifting!
So tomorrow I turn 26…
Today was a day of mixed emotions, as while it is exciting to turn a year older, it is also depressing too. Looking back on the past year and all the years before it, I came to realize that there are so many things I’ve wanted to accomplish that I’ve yet to. Have I just let the grains of life fall through my hands? So many opportunities that I’ve missed, which I could have otherwise have had.
Though at the same time, I’ve come to realize how fortunate I’ve been over the years, and how fulfilling the past 25 years have been. While I have missed opportunities simultaneously, I have changed as a person, much for the better. There was a time years ago when my life hit a trough (geek analogy: at a point on a graph where the first-derivative=0) but since then it’s been an uphill climb, with some occasional set backs, but mostly positive advancement. I’d like to think that at this point in time, I’m still on that positive climb, but there’s still quite a bit of a distance upwards to go.
My goal for the upcoming year is to try and remind myself of what it is I want to accomplish–and to make an effort to achieve it.
Here’s to another year….
Repeat after me…
“It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change”
Now with even more scientific evidence to back up the mantra:
Obesity: Behavioral changes needed to keep the punds off
Cheers for Trader Joe’s!
Cheers for not having to wait long in line at Trader Joes!
Jeers for Trader Joe’s suddenly raising their prices on some items. Cheers for the fact that they’re still cheaper than most of the other grocery stores in the city!
Sharpton Says Race Factors Into Steroids Scandals
Sharpton strikes out again.
In his trying to equate the fact that Bonds was indicted for things related to a grand jury (the BALCO case) whereas Clemens (has yet to at least) face criminal charges for his alleged ‘roid use, he makes an unequal analogy.

The format war appears to now be all but over with Toshiba stopping HD-DVD production
Must suck to have been an early adopter of the HD-DVD format…
Squatted 225 this morning while doing a 10×3 rep patern.
The president today declared an end to “free” aid to Africa. It’s about time someone had the cojones to stand up and make a statement like that.
Too bad that it’ll be nothing more than a statement, as NGOs and the UN will still flood dictators with money.
