NYC’s Latest Hero
Man jumps across 3 sets of rails to hoist another man to safety.
The man, while obviously a hero, is either really gutsy or perhaps a bit crazy for taking that big of a risk. Either way, good for him!

A cute little event being held by Men’s Health magazine, making a bracket for the “ultimate muscle builder“.
Though just like with the real tourney, some of the seedings are questionable. For example, how did ‘bicep curls’ get a #2 seed in the strength bracket? (The power clean deserves that spot).
The magical abilities of Jim Tressel have done it again…
Terrelle Pryor signs with the Ohio State University
Even better that he didn’t opt for that school up north instead!
Suprisingly, the jury only convicted the father of Nixzmary Brown of First Degree Manslaughter rather than Second-Degree murder.
The difference between second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter is subtle. In convicting Mr. Rodriguez, 29, of first-degree manslaughter, the jury determined that Mr. Rodriguez had caused Nixzmary’s death by recklessly engaging in conduct that created a grave risk of serious physical injury. To find him guilty of second-degree murder, the jury would have had to determine that he acted with “depraved indifference to human life.”
Sorry, in my book starving and constantly beating a defenseless child is showing a depraved indifference to human life. Furthemore, the conditions in which they forced her to live, tied up, having to use a litter box…..it’s disgusting and saddening just thinking about it. Even still, this thug should get life without parole for what he did.
Did the prosecution really do such a poor job with the case that they couldn’t get him on Murder-2? Then again, they probably did better than the Queens DA seems to be doing in the Sean Bell trial.
Here’s one crazy idea of how the Palestinians may celebrate the day they term the naqba
PA urges Palestinians to ‘return’
The Palestinian Authority is planning to mark Israel’s 60th anniversary by calling on all Palestinians living abroad to converge on Israel by land, sea and air….
…
The plan specifically refers to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, whose governments are asked to provide logistic support to allow the refugees to carry out their mission.
One can only imagine what the Jordanian government things of the idea of more Palestinians in their country–especailly on the border. The same goes for the Lebanese, who still remember the 1980s…
Based on the reports of some court watchers, it looks like the SCOTUS will be upholding the second ammendment
The Greeks, long known for many a Long Island diner, are apparently now getting out of the business in large numbers.
On LI diners are synonymous with Greeks (that’s a good thing btw).
Chad Waterbury is an evil genius. Emphasis on the evil today.
3×18 (That’s 3 sets of 18 repetitions) of an exercise with weight is brutal. Not only that, but pairing it with an antagonistic lift, for the same scheme, is eviler.
This morning’s lifts were quite a workout. The lactic acid burn was very pronounced. Starting with 3×18 squats and Romanian dead lifts….that would’ve been enough in and of itself. It left me staggering and shaking (literally) at the very end. Took a while to fully bounce back as well.
Time to go consume more protein.
Tomorrow’s workout is going to be brutal. Really brutal. Unless you find pleasure in lactic acid build-ups…3×18 antagonist sets (120s rest).
Final week of TBT…not sure what I’m gonna do next…
Then there’s the harder part of my day, the monday madness at work…
Manhattan bar “FUBAR” is destroyed in falling crane accident.
(Definition of FUBAR)
The hermanitajust returned from a trip to one of “The old country” so to speak, and took some pictures of the old barrio. Granted, of course she didn’t tell me she’d posted the pictures….I happened to randomly come accross them on Facebook. Oh siblings….
Our neighbors to the north have some silly laws on the books, especially on Prince Edward Island, where it’s currently illegal to:
sell, offer for sale or display flavoured, carbonated beverages in non-refillable containers.
Go figure….
Over at Ace’s there’s a discussion of the NY Post’s pictures of Ashley/”Kristin”‘
The comments echoed the discussion we were having at work today. Mainly that in every set of pix of her, her face looks different. How much plastic surgery has she had done?
Time to go foam roll….one of those love/hate activities.
Hate the pain of doing it
Love the subsequent relief it provides
French FM said “the magic is over for US“. He also advocates for diplomatic relations or at least negotiations with Hamas.
That’s a winner there
Spitzer could still be in more trouble–not just with his marriage, but legally as well.
Is it just me, or does anyone else find Deadlifts to be an addicting exercise? (Can’t be just me)
Pulled a new PR this morning 225 for 10×3. Previously the most I’d done was 205, but I felt like I could do more, so I wnet in for it. The best part was that my grip even held through. Time to probably invest in some liquid chalk though (can’t use real chalk at my gym). Even managed a dirty look from a trainer while DLing today. What a great lift!
The Governorship of Elliot Spitzer is now officially over.
During that time, what, if anything significant, did the “steamroller” accomplish in Albany? The place is still a political cesspool.
