Just saw Tropic Thunder at the theater and loved it.
I haven’t had that good of a laugh in quite some time. It’s funny on the surface leve. However, as someone who has seen more than his fair share of both Vietnam and shlocky B-Movies, this movie was even funnier!
Now if only one were to see a theater where the audience talks back at the screen….that would really be great.
Anyone else see Phelps’ win in the 100m fly last night?
Wow…just wow. That extra-half stroke he took, probably gave him the extra distance he needed to touch first.
Remind me to never again lend my umbrella to my sister.
I got stuck in the storm that hit while en route to the subway on the way home from work. I normally carry an umbrella, but since my sister lost hers (again), she borrowed mine and failed to return it. Argh!
Today’s conversation at work on the Olympics left us wondering if some of Team USA’s “choking” in events (e.g. women’s gymnastics, synchronized diving, tennis) could perhaps be due to the effect of the Beijing smog?
Foreclosure fallout: Detroit Houses go for a $1
And someone would want to live in that part of Detroit because?
Mind Hack’s takes a look at the MIT and Brandeis alumnas turned terrorist doctoral thesis titled: Separating the components of imitation and a latter paper which she authored.
It’s a shame that Brandeis happened to cross paths with this sociopath.
A discussion at work today about a (female) co-workers upcoming vacation…
Girl 1: “So I’m packing 3 outfits a day and of course with them a set of shoes for each….so I’ve got a suitcase just full of shoes!”
Girl 2: “Look at his [my] face”
Uh, how few pairs of shoes do I own again?
Mazel Tov to my cousin who is getting married this evening down in Florida. Mazel Tov as well to her chattan and the whole mishpacha
The sister was supposed to be headed down to the wedding this morning, but the airline canceled her flight. Needless to say, she’s not been the happiest camper today.
Half of all Americans have poor eyesight: study
My whole family is in that half. Mom and I at the more negative end of the spectrum.
There was a book a couple years back (blanking on the title–any help?) whose thesis was that the French are skinnier than Americans because of their diets.
Maybe that thesis is on its way out: France considers raising tax on fatty foods
Iran swimmer avoids Israeli pool showdown in Beijing
How does one say “chicken” in Farsi? Is it کلمات مرتبط
‘Cause that’s what the swimmer was.
As for the article itself, what was with this little comment by the author:
Israel, the Middle East region’s sole if undeclared nuclear power, considers Iran its main strategic threat because of its nuclear programme and repeated predictions of the Jewish state’s demise by senior Iranian leaders.
What if anything does that have to do with the Olympics and or swimming?
As stated before, I don’t care at all about the story itself.
What piques my interest is that it was a tabloid, the National Enquirer that broke the story.
When I think of hte National Enquirer, I usually think of supermarket checkout tabloid type articles.
But in light of this event, deos this lend a bit of creedence to tabloid reporting?
Not sure why, but that’s how I’ve been feeling all day. Perhaps it’s from a long week of work?
The sister, who has always been the one in the family with superfluous energy, thinks I’m crazy when I express my fatigue. Oh well.
Honestly, I didn’t care much when the story was first broken, nor do I care much more now.
He already had two strikes in my book. The first been a shady trial lawyer. The second for being a stereotypical politican.
What more needed to be said?
Football is back!
True it’s only the pre-season, but the Browns are actually on TV here in NYC–which is cause for celebration.
Damn it…interception……
Normalcy hopefully returns tomorrow
The (suspected) Al-Queda member, Aafia Siddiqui. who happened to by coincidence, have studied neuroscience at Brandeis has at long last been captured over in Afghanistan.
Fortunately, she’s been caught and hopefully the Judicial system will throw the book at her and lock her away for her crimes (not the least of which is attempted murder of a Federal agent).
Looks like the (small yet annoying )fringe contingent of the alma matter has their cause du jour for the fall.
Cindy Adam’s column in Sunday’s NY Post was a horrendous, unfair hatchet job on the field of Sleep Medicine.
Needless to say, it riled up the office on all levels.
(If anyone from the Post is reading this–expect some unhappy letters coming towards your office).
The article truly deserves something I’ve not done in a very long time…a rich, comprehensive, through Fisking. Alas, I don’t have time for that at the moment, so this brief comment will suffice.
Sleep Apnea is a very real condition. If left untreated, it can lead to further health complications and even mortality.
Ms. Adams is not one with a science or medicine background, and she should really stick to entertainment writing not medicine, lest she plant bad ideas in individuals heads.
Personal trainers at one Manhattan gym are apparently charging $110 a session for a Wii Fit based workout.
Mind you, the Wii fit costs $80 on its own.
Why people would waste their money like this I don’t know, but it’s their money, so let them do as they wish.
Personally, I’m sticking to the heavy iron.
(Yes, today was a deadlift day–pulled sumo for the first time in almost 6 months).
Deadlifts+squats ftw! (oh, rows, pull-ups too!)
