My coworkers, who don’t appreciate college football were quite perplexed as to why I was humming “Hang on Sloopy” and the fight song of tOSU all day at my desk.
As with every year, I’m psyched for The Game.
The problem with a lot of East Coast natives is they don’t quite appreciate the importance of these rivalries.
As of now it’s 14h 15min till kick off at The Shoe…
Now back to listeing to the Dead Shembecklers
Thie Post nails it again on the MTA’s announcement of deficit and proposed fare increases:
But one thing’s for sure: Gov. Paterson (who largely controls the MTA) and Mayor Bloomberg (who also has a say) need to ensure that New York transit remains a viable, practical, reliable way for people to get to and from work.
If they can’t, it’s “Good night, New York.”
Forget about the economy: What company will want to be based here if workers have to spend hours traveling between their homes
Anyone else remember the effects of the ’05 strike?
Just a thought, from what I learned in AP US History.
Remember when President Jefferson deployed the Marines to fight the Barbary pirates (“on the shores of Tripoli”?
Why not deploy some Marines to once again, kick some pirate booty?
Tonight was laundry and cooking night…not to mention the fact that Top Chef is on!
Hot Dog quick fire challenge. Now I wonder if there’ll be a pizza challenge?
It’s official–the MTA has to be one of the most, if not the most, inept public transportation agencies in the nation.
And it looks like us commuters are going to have to suffer.
Speaking of sardines in a can–ever tried riding a 6 train during rush hour?
Thankfully they didn’t manage to blow a lead again this time…though they came close.
The Plain Dealer has the game all covered.
The Browns’ defense was sorely lacking. They need to do a lot of tackling drills ASAP. It was horrible.
Quinn did a decent job. Nothing spectacular, but he at least held his own through the game.
Most football games go without an interception…or maybe there’s one.
However, in tonight’s Bills-Browns game, the Bills have thrown 3 INTs! And that’s still in the First Quarter!
Alas, the Browns Offense has been virtually non-existant…but that’s another story.
The big three are all based in that state up north

Okay, it’s officially time to commence the daily countdown to the greatest rivalry in College Football!
For those of you who live on the College Football deprived Northeast coast, here’s what I’m talking about.
Now for some audio-visual education
Can’t believe I’m about to say this, but for once, I’ve got to side with the Evil Empire.
A Red Sox fan who cheered for the Sox at Yankee Stadium, and subsequently got attacked by some Yankees fans, is suing the team.
Now why is the Yankees organization at all liable for this? It’s not the Organization’s fault (or any sports team’s fault for that matter) if their fans are boorish hooligans, is it?
Yesterday was a horrible day at work….let’s just leave it at that. It wasn’t just me who felt that way.
Then went to dinner at a friend’s place in Morningside Heights where the sister and I stayed quite late into the evening. And that was my Friday.
Paranoia on the rise–experts say
Where would we be without experts?
That’s the title of an Editorial in the NY Post today.
Apparently Mayor Bloomberg has stated, that despite the fiscal deficit facing the city, he’s not going to cut any funding for the arts.
Instead, among the things he’s cutting is a whole class (1000 officers) at the police academy.
In my view, safety and security trump “culture”. How else are we to enjoy the “culture” if we’re not safe enough to get to it? The City needs the police (and fire fighters) more than it does the arts.
Don’t get me wrong, I like “culture” and the arts; but I don’t see it as being either something the government needs to fund in the first place.
Just curious–why has the passage of Prop 8 in California ignited this storm of protests across the country, that is outside of California?
Why are there no protests about the similar laws voters passed in Florida and Arizona? Is it just a California thing?
