Conceeding to pressure from my parents and nagging from The Brother, after work, I stopped by my local polling place (granted, it’s on the opposite end of the block which I live on).
The place was pretty much empty, at 7pm when I went, save for the poll volunteers.
There really wasn’t much to vote for. It’s conventional wisdom that Bloomberg is going to get a third term, the Dem nominees for Public Advocate (De Blasso) and Controller (Liu) are given winners. Even my local city council race was a given for the incumbent.
Nor were there any real issues or exciting matters oin the ballot. Contrast this to my home state of Ohio–where eyes are on Issue 3 (allowing casino gambling) and in Cuyahoga County–governement reform.
NAsA is about to start experimenting the effects of cosmic radiation on monkeys.
NASA has been doing similar experiments on mice and rats for a few years now–so this shouldn’t come as much of surprise. (It’s actually really cool how the experiments are set up as well)
