GO BUCKS!
Buy Libby’s canned pumpkin now, before it runs out
The maker of Libby’s pumpkin pie filling and canned pumpkin is predicting a national shortage of the main ingredient in most homemade pumpkin pies.
“Our calculations indicate that we may deplete our inventory of canned Libby’s pumpkin as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Paul Bakus, vice president/general manager, Nestle Baking, in a statement.
This just in…there are other brands out there besides Libby’s (though to some that may be sacrilege).
Sunday at Whole Foods I got me some canned pumpkin for $0.99/can [store brand] where as Libby’s was $1.99 for the same size can at Food Emporium!
Mmmm….pumpkin…..
PR’d (again) today in the gym. Nailed a 205lb fat bar floor press….which brings my total on the big 3 to 900lb+!
Next stop 1000lb club!
It’s surprising that this is really a first here in the City: NYC’s First Non-Smoking Apt Building Set To Open
What will be interesting is to see if this is a trend that continues.
Seeming that there’s really no love lost between Obama and Patterson–the accidental governor took a swipe at Obama today.
The Sister had a coupon to a clothing store, so I got dragged out to go buy some new clothes for my so called “wardrobe”
None of it was for work–where I must wear shirt + tie…but apparently my sister thinks I need a wardrobe for my non-existent social life.
Best find–a pair of chucks for $15!
So here’s what I made for myself today:
–Chicken breasts–played around with the spice rack again. Of late, I’ve been on a basil and thyme chicken kick. (I don’t know why–but it’s yummy–so there)
–Cranberry Sauce
–Pumpkin and black bean patties version 2.0. This week I added some vanilla (vegan) pea protein powder that I have–both to use it up, and for texture/taste. It turned out that plus some black bean powder may have made things a bit too thick. I’m wondering that if instead of baking theis concoction in “patty”/”cookie” form–would making it in a brownie tray work better? (That can be version 2.1)
–Salmon patties–easy to make, transport and eat. And they’re yummy.
Now that the adrenaline levels have fallen off a bit, time for some more “sober” thoughts on today’s game:
Iowa’s backup QB Vandenberg didn’t look much like a first time starter. The guy had a hot arm and a lot of zip on the ball. The kid has a bright future.
Vandenberg was also helped by an extremely impressive O-Line. The front five for Iowa were solid.
The OSU defense seemed for the most part to hold their own. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to be able to get much pressure on Vandenberg (credit again to the Iowa O-Line). The D did a solid job, though in the seond half it looked like McNutt may have gotten a bit loose. Plus some big plays in the second half. However, it was in OT where the OSU D really showed up and shut the door on Iowa. That 3rd down sack was huge!
The OSU offense played TresselBall. They worked, though the play calling was highly conservative. The 49 yard TD was huge–and the Buckeyes did well on the ground. I guess they can’t be faulted for not turning the ball over for the second straight week against a solid defense either. Pryor looked decent as well for the second straight week.
The Buckeyes special teams were a bit disconcerting. Save for the game winning field goal–the special teams weren’t up to their usual selves. The punting game was very disappointing for the Buckeyes. The short punts gave Iowa good field position. Domnating field position is clutch in TresselBall. Plus the kick off return that went for a TD wasn’t good either.
But that’s all said and done. Now let the festivities of rivalry week commence!
Time to celebrate!
Game was too close for comfort!
Iowa’s backup QB was quite impressive to say the leat. Their O-Line was super strong too…except for in the OT.
Buckeyes to Pasadena! It’s been what, 12 (or 13?) years?
When I woke up this morning (~8 something AM), I looked out the window, and there was a line up Second Ave and wrapped around the block.
When I came home from synagogue–the line was still there.
Turns out the public school on the next block is having a swine-flu vaccine clinic this weekend (which explains why there were so many kids in line too!)
Count me in to the chorous of those opposed to bringing 9/11 mastermind KSM and his cronies to NY to stand trial.
They should either be kept down in Gitmo, or better yet, why not hold the trials from the Supermax in Florence, CO?
Almost forgot today was Friday the 13th…though it felt much more like it was “freaky Friday” at work more than anything else!
CUNY’s got math problem: Report shows many freshmen from city HS fail at basic algebra
How simple are the State exams for students, if by the time they graduate, they can’t even handle basic fractions?
Depressing to say the least….
Wow….just wow!
Have to watch a webinar for work. Problem is my work computer doesn’t have speakers (and it’s painfully slow)
So here am I, cup of green tea in hand, watching a webinar for work….
This one brought a smile to my face:
Trainer to (new) client: “We’re going to work not to just get you big…but 70s big!”
[perplexed look on client's face]
Beat my old floor press PR today, by 20 lbs! (Granted, i also did one fewer rep–but still) Very pleased with myself. Alas, that was done before 7am…so there was still a full day to go.
Going to do some complexes and accessory stuff tomorrow.
Whomever starts at QB for the Browns won’t make a difference
Eric Mangini won’t reveal Cleveland Browns QB for Ravens until Wednesday
The Browns offense is still pathetic and they’re going to lose to the Ravens.
Though with a week until the game, it looks like Cleveland area fans could be spared viewing the game.
