Snow!

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 12:33 am

So, we’re supposed to get some sort of “massive zomg blizzard!1!1!111!!!!”

Not too worried about it. It’s past due for snow here.

No more baskets–please!

Got even more Gift Baskets at the office today. I think The GIrls have enough chocolate put away for a few months now.
(Also anticipating the annual new years “weight loss” resolutions too)

No more gift baskets, please!

Holiday Party

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 11:04 pm

We had The Company Holiday Party this evening. Very exciting to have a party this year after not having had one last year.

Good times.
Tomorrow should be interesting to see the aftermath at the office.

Pictures of last night’s party at the apartment have already appeared online. With respect to The Sister’s privacy, I’m not going to link to this other blog (as her first name and picture appear there). Sorry. It was quite interesting last night though–especially the addition of the megaphone.

Spiked hot chocolate bar, gingerbread house building competition, random cookie making contest.

A sampling of the who knows what is taking place at my apartment this evening….

Mystery Party

Filed under: Personal — Jaws @ 10:48 pm

So all I know is that The Sister plans to have a few friends over tomorrow night. Apparently, it’s some sort of “epic duel” between like 7 of them.

What exactly this means–I have no clue.

All I know is that there are a lot of mugs here (I’m thinking the Sister will be making mulled wine), baking supplies (margerine + eggs), more beer than usual in the fridge (we usually have <6 bottles/cans) and Guitar Hero

what all of this means–I wish I knew!

Quote of the day

Public trust is something scientists must work hard to maintain. When it comes to science and public policy, the average citizen usually has to trust scientists—whose word he or she has to take on faith almost as much as a religious believer takes the word of a priest. Once that trust is undermined, as it has been in recent years, science becomes a casualty of politics.”

Another Monday

Filed under: Personal — Jaws @ 11:40 pm

It was indeed another Monday today…not as bad as recent ones though.

Worst part was the windows update that had to be installed….it set my computer back–alas.

Oh, and the coffee machine on my floor is broken.

Wrong yet so funny

Strange Food Pairings

From a friend on Facebook came this idea:

[potato] Latkas + soy sauce.

Not sure about that one. In my eyes, Latkas always go with sour cream and/or applesauce

NY Post sinks to new low…

Filed under: New York City,Wierd Side — Jaws @ 11:08 am

Making Ashley “Krisiten” Dupre it’s new sex columnist.

Granted, I’m admitted fan of the Post, but mainly for it’s coverage of local news and opinion page. [I don't even bother with Page Six]

For those who don’t know who Dupre is–she was the call girl with whom then Governor Spitzer was caught with.

Laid low

Filed under: General — Jaws @ 8:01 pm

Laid low all day at home…to re-cooperate from my overly stressful week at work.

Plan on going out tonight–location TBD.

Lit candles and had dinner with the sister….

Too long od a day at work. Short-staffed = stressful.

Browns Win?!?!?!?

Whaaa!

13-6!

I’m going to bed…this is too strange to believe.

/It’s been too long since the Steelers have gone down to the Dawgs!

X-mas lights?

Came home this evening, and found that The Sister had put up lights on the balcony.

Not so sure how I feel about it. Part of me says it’s a very goyishy thing to do. I also think it’s just stupid. (they’re plain white too–no colors or anything interesting either!)

Thoughts?

Browns lead at half?!?!

The Browns actually have a lead at half-time?

Have they even had a lead this year at the half?

5 sacks of the Pitt QB in one half? Huh!?!?

Something must be amiss on Lake Erie tonight.

Granted, these are the Browns, and t here’s still a whole half to play.

Williamsburg Hipsters Vs. Hasidim

Hmmm….a bit of a tough one here. Though my respect for a fellow Jew triumps far more over my disdain for “hipsters’. Going to have to side with the Hasids on this one–on the reckless cyclers argument.

Monday again?

Filed under: Personal — Jaws @ 10:42 pm

Today had so many ups and downs and bizarre twists and turns–that it felt like a Monday all over again. Ugh.

Stupidest column on Tiger Woods (to date)

I guess it was only inevitable that someone would pen a column about the race of Tiger Wood’s mistresses.

Seriously now…is this the best thing that columnists can come up with to write about???

Brilliant move Albany…

Filed under: New York City,Politics — Jaws @ 10:16 pm

There’s heavy sarcasm implied in the title…

Transit Tax Oops Means MTA Shortfall Of Over $200 Million

Apparently the state miscalculated how much the MTA would get from a payroll tax associated with the bailout and it turns out the transit agency is getting at least $200 million less than expected

Let’s see here…when the economy is already forcing businesses to lay off employees–mainly due to a lack of funds…raising the cost of employment will solve another problem?

Makes no sense to me…but in the backwards world of Albany apparently it made sense….
