The Sister, in her (apparent) love of reality TV shows is currently watcing Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker.
I”ll admit–this show can be entertaining. More importantly though–it does give a good series of lessons in social skills–both what to do and not to do..
Just saying…
The apartment is back to normal….but we’ve got some leftover juice and other veverages–that at least I”m not going to touch.
ANyone want to come over and help us go through some containers of orange juice?
The people have come and gone….beads, beer and glow-sticks abound. (Kosher) Po-Boys and Jambalaya were served and devouerd.
The trumpet player (trumpeter?) came, performed, did a great job as well.
Me–i’ve been tired all day. It’s time for bed.
The Sister is holding a party at the apartment tomorrow. Therefore it’s currently major clean up time around here for us. (ALl the while she’s concoting some jello shots)
Across the Hudson, new NJ Governor Christie seems to be tackling the state’s fiscal woes head on:
N.J. Gov. Christie Freezes Spending
Whether his actions work will be worth keeping an eye on.
My take: *blank stare*
Do people actualy wear the clothes featured on the runways?
Felt a bit off and slow today. Maybe some extra sleep is just what I need
So I made it to work today. The commute wasn’t a problem at all.
The worst part was that the gym decided not to open until 7am. Did the gym bother telling anyone? No.
At work, a good number of people made it in surprisingly. The main source of absences were people living in Jersey, as apparently they got hit much harder then we did in the city.
The media was over-FUD’d this snow….
We’re expecting up to a foot of snow here
The Mayor has already closed the City schools for tomorrow and who knows what else will be closed.
My company will be open!
What’s a foot of snow, really? Where I’m from in Cleveland…this is just another day of lake-effect goodness. Then again, my school district was also the last one to call a snow day.
There was no hot water at the gym this morning. And the locker room as usual lacked heat.
This should’ve been a sign.
Got to the office and loaded up the computer. Found an email from our local Medicare contractor–saying that our application update was denied. The reason–it was on the 06/08 form rather than the 07/09 form. Who knew there was another version of the same form> The information on the application wasn’t going to be different anyway!?!?! (Ask me about national healthcare again)
Then the rest of the day stuck me getting interrupted in my work-flow with calls from some more “difficult” patients. *Sigh* It wouldn’t have really been Monday without all this, no?
Tonight’s Super Bowl was quite a good game. Scratch that–it was a very good game.
The Saints simply outplayed the Colts in the end (obviously). A few quick observations before I hit the sack:
–The Colts featured a running attack which definitely caught the Saints off-guard. (Who would’ve expected that?)
–The Saints time of possession in the 2nd quarter was clutch–essentially by moving the ball on a long, long drive they kept the ball out of Manning’s hand–which neutralized Indy.
–Can’t say enough about the Saint’s Special Teams play. Excellent punt/kick-off coverage. Bush’s return late in the 2nd quarter. Good starting field position. The three FGs (versus Stover–who is somehow still playing–missing one). And the On-Side kick was huge!
From the cashier today at Whole Foods remarking on my purchase of a lot of frozen broccoli:
Cashier: “Are you a chef”
Me: “No…I’m just addicted to broccoli (*laughter)…it’s something I’ve loved my whole life”.
Cashier: Oh…I asked because when a chef [name intelligible] shops here he always buys a lot of broccoli…so I thiought you were a chef too.
Me: (laughs)….I wish I could cook that well!
–An aside, Whole Foods has the best price on frozen broccoli in the city that I know of! And my secret to prepare it? Toss it in the microwave.
Just doing my usual Sunday cooking and then getting ready for Super Bowl kickoff. Nothing too exciting. May toss in some foam rolling into the mix as well.
Today is the Little Brother’s 20th Birthday.
Very, very, hard to believe that my brother has turned 20 already.
Happy Birthday!
It looks like it’s only got 6 months or so left
Continuum Health Plans also withdrew its offer to buy out St. Vincent’s debt and take over the institution secondary to rising political pressure this past week.
A sad development to say the least–especially in NYC’s healthcare landscape.
While dinner last night was really good and tasty–I think something I ate didn’t quite agree with my bizarre temperamental stomach. This said–it shouldn’t be taken as a criticism of the restaurant–rather it’s just my messed up physiology.
Long day at work….literally and figuratively.
The California Aunt was in town, and she took a cousin, the Sister and myself out to dinner at Noi Due
Nice place and nice company.
I’m tired though–so it’s off to bed I go…more tomorrow.
Lancet retracts MMR link to autism
Anyone really surprised by this? Not the suprise that it took The Lancet 12 years to retract the paper itself–but the fact that the paper was retracted period.
Take that Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carey et al.
I had an almost “Office Space” like experience briefly at work these past two days. With the end of every month comes the requests from various departments for statistics on the previous month–so I must prepare all these reports.
Then today as part of an internal audit, I had to print up and coalate more reports (it was easy to do; but just mostly busywork)
Fortunately though, there was no need to attach the “new coversheet” to the reports.
Time to watch 24….
I like this online video-on-demand (via the web). It allows me to watch the show at my convenience, rather than being fixed to a set time.
/Yay Jack Bauer!
