Playoff season
It’s playoff time in both the NBA and the NHL.
I’m much more excited about the latter. With no disrespect to the Cavs, there’s something more exciting about playoff hockey.
Oh and an overtime game — priceless!

I got the title from a sale email from EliteFTS
Tax day is here. Taxes suck. We are here to help out with 10 things that don’t suck (and are on sale!)
Work didn’t wind up going too well either but that was for other reasons.
Paying the absurdly high combination of Federal + State + Local taxes here sucks big time.
The WJC’s president pens an open letter to the Obama Administration vis-a-vis Israel
Apparently there’s a “tea party” meeting here in NYC tomorrow — on the steps of the Main Post office.
Given my recent experience with the passport officials at the main post office, I’d be inclined to attend a protest there — especially to protest the horrible service at the post office!
Granted, I do have my libertarian small-government conservative leanings too–but I’m not the rally crowd type of person. My “tea party” if you will is going to consist of a nice cup (or two) of green tea here at The Apartment.
LAT: Healthcare overhaul won’t stop premium increases
Of note–it appears that one reason for the rate increase is the fact that hospitals are pushing for larger reimbursements.
(Alas, little chance of physicians getting such a rate increase for their practices, but that’s a different matter).
it’s ironic that many Israelis like to spend their Passover vacation on the Sinai Peninsula. Sure it may be pretty–but crossing the Red Sea in the opposite direction on the holiday celebrating yetziat mitzraim?
Now the Israeli government is warning all Israelis to exit Sinai at once
Why must there be seasonal allergies?
(*pauses to sneeze*)
Been taking Claritin for a bit over a week now. Helps a bit–but not in the AM/PM. Any suggestions?
So I had a bad day today. Was frustrated by my lack of grip strength post-injury in the gym.
Very angry with my work PC–it somehow got malware on it this AM to make matters worse. Mind you, my PC is so slow and pathetic that even the IT department makes remarks about it!
All in all, I just felt rotten all day. It was Monday after all.
Another recent memory from my recent trip.
On one small section of Emek Refaiim, there’s an Aroma Cafe on one side of the street and opposite it is a Tal Bagels and Max Brenner restaurant.
While The Sister and I found this to be extremely funny–the parents didn’t understand our laughter.
You see…here in NYC we’ve got a Max Brenner (Union Sq), Aroma Cafe (multiple).
Travel half way around the world and see the same restaurants! With the notable exception that in Jerusalem all of these places were Kosher.
Feeling kind of “uh” all day. Not sure why. Went to shul this morning, while while it felt good spiritually and intellectually, didn’t have much of an effect on my physical sense.
Oh well….
Not feeling right today. Probably a combination of excess working + inadequate rest. Not to mention the self-inflicted DOMS from squat day. Ugh.
Ever since returning from Israel I’ve not had a “normal” nights sleep. I’ve been waking up daily at around 4:30am for no reason.
Maybe I should ask the Rabbi tomorrow at shul what he thinks?
(I’d guess it’s a sign that I must return to Israel ASAP). *grin*
No, not in the US or the UK…but this time it maybe the result of poor handlings/QC in China
On Shabbos afternoon the Mom , the Dad, The Brother and myself went on a walk around Yerushalaim–to show The Brother some sites and to take advantage of Shabbos in Yerushalaim.
On this little tiyul if you will, we happened to walk by the King David Hotel, where there’s a sign talking about the history of the building, most notably the Irgun’s bombing of the hotel in ’46.
Later on our stroll we went by the old train station which also had a sign indicating its history. The Irgun had also launched an attack there and long story short, the British arrested two of the plotters in the attack and sentenced them to death. However, before the men could be hung, they exploded themselves in jail.
So the dad, with his bizarre sense of humor decided to remark: “Boy that Irgun sure liked blowing stuff up”.
The Mom and I just shook our heads and walked away. (Dad has a pathetic sense of humor).
Time for some Israel trip stories.
One of the highlights of my trips was to do something I’d never done before in Israel. Ride a public bus.
My previous trips to Israel with school and youth groups took place in the ’80s (’96 and ’99). For those who don’t remember, during that time there was a spike in terrorist attacks especially against public buses (a list from the Israeli MFA).
During those trips taking the bus was expressly prohibited. Not even to be contemplated.
This trip–I got to take the bus. Rode the bus around Yerushalaim in fact. Even rode a bus from Tel-Aviv to Yerushalaim at night (though I had to stand for that whole ride).
Sure it seems mundane–but it was the novelty of being able to do something I’d never done before on my previous travels.
Hooray for new experiences and adventures!
Put in a 12h day today at the office.
Yes I’m crazy (but that’s a known fact). Almost caught up on my work from being absent all while juggling more current work.
Catching up on a few things this evening now that Passover has passed.
Among them catching up on 24 and breaking out my regular pots and pans (which I don’t have for passover at the Apartment).
Exhausted from a long day at work too…
Ugh…the sniffles which started briefly in Israel have accompanied me to New York. It must be allergy season. Sigh.
I’ve got a box of Claritin now. Hopefully this passes over soon.
*sniffle*
Got to the Work this morning and expected to find work on my desk.
I underestimated the amount of work that there was.badly. Those who were supposed to cover for me apparently didn’t. Needless to say I was flummoxed and frustrated.
I’m exhausted as a result. Here’s to hoping for an easier Tuesday
