What about the doctors?
Sure, it may save the insurance companies money to limit the physicians that a patient can see, but what about the doctors? Fewer patients coming thru the doors means less revenue…

Still not feeling totally right. Had to virtually bail on my workout this morning. My muscles felt super latent–no drive or anything. Sigh.
Going to ask one of the higher up doctors at the office for a professional referral. Hopefully they know of a colleague or colleagues who can help me out.
/End of personal rant
So I noticed something weird today at the gym.
While working on my CGBP today, I found that I had a greater ROM in one arm relative to the other. Quite odd to say the least. (An aside: noticed an improvement in my overall arch ability for a change). I stopped the weight progression early as a result.
After my workout I looked at myself in the mirror, and perhaps I was seeing things, but one trap looked higher than another on me. Quite odd.
It’s off to hit the foam roller I go…
So I was randomly thinking this morning about what kind of music would best suit me at different times of the day.
No idea what provoked this thought (maybe being bored on the subway platform having read my free paper?)
I’ve so far determined that my morning would best be suited with (heavy) metal music. Why? The music gets my blood flowing and mentally enables me to enter “The zone”. Exactly what I need in the AM. (Especially since at the doctor’s suggestion I’ve laid off the coffee)
The music would be an awesome carry-over to the gym as well. One can not really smash f’n weights to Lady Gaga or other top 40 hits.
The after gym pre-office opening may be a bit of trance/electronica. It’s that amorphous time of the day–when I get a lot done, but at the same time, there’s some stochastic events.
When the clock stikes 9–one may as well cue the circus music. I don’t know what genre would fit in here. this is where one would need a DJ to come in an start spinning a variety of things. Some punk/ska may be a nice fit.
IN the evening, at home, is unwind time. Cue the classical, classical music.
Oh, and for what it’s worth, I don’t own an MP3 player or listen to much music at that.
Sorry, nothing really to say today. Spent most of the day in the work building/complex.
Still not feeling well. Constantly cold.,lacking energy (though psychologically I feel great–go figure0. No appetite–although my body starts to shut down from lack of food. I so despise force feeding myself. Am noticing a decrease in %bf too (mirror test).
Going to try to make an appt with a specialist tomorrow….
As I mentioned in my previous post–today’s World Cup final was quite disappointing.
The Spaniards, while effectively shutting down the Dutch machine had very little to show for it in terms of offense. The Dutch on the other hand seemed to have no real plan except for physically obstructing the Spaniards. The first half was largely forgettable.
The second half had a few sparks, but it too was largely forgettable.
The game seemed like an early round match–not a Wold Cup Final!
How many days till the 2014 cup kicks off?
Wow…Paul the Octopus correctly picked another game in the World Cup!
By some quick math, the odds of him having picked all of Germany’s games + the final correctly is something in the neighborhood of 0.4%!
Too wierd.
/Otherwise the FInal sucked in terms of quality for final matches IMHO. The first half was a complete snoozer. Okay, the Spanish had the pressure on the first 15 minutes or so, but then they laid off.
THe Ref was waaaaaay too Card happy too…..
It’s July 11th (a/k/a 7/11)
That means FREE SLURPEES @ 7-11!
/Already went once today
From today’s Post:
I’m an admitted gym addict
That said–I don’t care for group exercise classes. It’s not my thing. I’m much happier going into the gym to SFW
(While I do have a method to my madness and will often use tempo counts, the goal remains the same)
Too bad the SFW is almost alien in most gyms in this city and instead is replaces by all sorts of silly classes.
Cav’s Majority owner Dan GIlbert’s letter to Cleveland fans is officially an instant classic.
Not only does it channel the inner-soul of a Cleveland sports fan.
It’s written in Comic-Sans (which has sent the geek world into a tizzy)
Epic!
LeBron jersey burning outside BW3s in Akron.
Is LeBron destined to join the ranks of Art Modell in Cleveland?
OKay, save for the Medical/Healthcare sector–stick a fork in the City. With LeBron’s departure for South Beach it’s done for.
(I guessed he’d leave)
Quite interesting to read my Facebook feed. Between unhappy Clevelanders and Ex-Clevelanders and the delusional Knicks fans who thought they were getting him.
(Best post so far is the report of a dented fridge)
Question is are riots going to ensure in NE Ohio?
One would’ve expected the country behind the war strategy of the Blitzkreig to be prepared…but nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Seriously though–the Germans looked extremely flat and the Spaniards extremely potent. The fact that the Germans only managed 5 shots all game is quite stunning to say the least!. Was this the same German squad that routed both England and Argentina? There was no counter attack, nor was their open play in the midfield.
Credit though to Spain for their perseverance in the game.
It hit the triple digits outside again today here in NYC. Yet, I’m still cold.
(Off topic: labs came back completely “normal”–going to have to consult a specialist)
After an epic workout at the gym this AM (set a PR on the CGBP with the fat bar)…took a ride in the air conditioned elevator to the Office. Get off the elevator and instantly notice that the air is stagnant.
I walk by one of the thermostats, and it’s at it’s normal temp +/- 1 degree. Then I go by the other one–its’ reading 80 degrees! (It’s supposed to be in the low 70s).
Return to my desk and fire off an email to the “powers that be” about the situation. Only get a mild response–so I take the initiative and call our HVAC service company. Tell them what’s going on. Meanwhile people start arriving to work (it’s around 8ish at this point) and complaining. More emails going back and forth and the like. (The “powers that be all have work related blackberry(s)) . I get to doing my normal morning work, etc.
Then I happen to be walking to the back to heat up my “breakfast” and Mr. Big Shot chases me down and tells me that “the HVAC is working normally if it’s 20 deg cooler indoors than outdoors”. He proceeds to basically scold me. I rolled my eyes and went to get my food from the microwave.
More people arrive for work, as it’s nearing 9 and the complaints mount. (Working with a bunch of females who come with lotion and makeup on can do that–I’ve learned). Finally one of the awesome HVAC guys (the HVAC company is full of good guys). I unlock the mechanical rooms for him and notice that one of the units sounds funny.
Turns out one of the units was messed up in some sort of way, so the HVAC guys had to spend the whole day repairing it. This meant that a majority of the office was without AC all day!
Then throughout the day, the other higher ups (save for “Mr. Big-shot”) lauded me for my efforts. Still it rubbed me the wrong way to be spoken down to for reporting an observation that I made–for something that it beyond my job description.

Damn…it’s Tuesday? Today was just a bad day for me and my colleagues at the office. Pushy patients (no, we can’t control your insurance company) and other things of that sort.
Really, patients, please understand that we have no control over how long it will take your insurance company to grant prior-approval for a prescription item. No, there’s no hocus-pocus magic that we can perform to make things go faster. Nor do we have any special “ins” with customer service.
Sigh….
Oh and people, I can only be in one place at one time! (That includes you Mr. delivery man who called my phone endlessly when I was on a teleconference–but don’t worry, you’re still cool)
So for the 4th, I decided to make the most of the nice weather, and I headed downtown to take in some American History.
Took the train down to Bowling Green and went to Battery Park. From there, I was able to see both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (the latter of which I really want to visit at some point). None of my grandparents or great-grandparents actually came through Ellis Island as it turns out–but nevertheless, all the time I spent in elementary school learning about it makes me feel that it would be a worthwhile trip.
From the Battery I walked around downtown–nowhere in particular. Went by Francis’ Tavern, over to Freedom Hall, passed by the NYSE (yay for capitalism!), Trinity Church. Then went over to the South Street Seaport–because the weather was nice and I felt like seeing the water. It was nice and sunny out.
Later I came home, had dinner and all that good stuff, and headed out towards the west side to watch the fireworks. This year’s fireworks surpassed last years in their quality. Extremly impressive.
Rather than dealing with an overcrowded E train to get back to the East Side, I made the trip on foot from 11th Ave over to Lexington to catch a 6 back home. My calves haven’t been thrilled with my decision, but that’s besides the point. I had a nice walk which is all that counts in my book.
BORING!
The doctors have told me to take it easy, pending the results of some blood work. So I stayed home most of the day today. BORING!
No Futbol on TV either!
Back to work tomorrow and the gym too.

The Germans destroyed Argentina today. The early goal totally knocked the Argentinians off balance and then the Germans went to work.
Whomever is responsible for the Germany’s strength and conditioning coaching has done an amazing job. The Germans absolutely looked fast, fit and fresh the whole 90 minutes.
The Blitzkrieg showed the vulnerability in the Argentine defense–and I”m very surprised that Messi failed to score a single tally this whole cup.
In the later game, the two penalty kicks in two minutes sequence was crazy! Although later in the game, Spain finally cracked Paraguay’s stingy defense for the deciding goal. Spain-Germany in the Semis…should be a good one.
