Too tired
Sorry about the light posting recently….I’ve just been too tired to post as of late…
Sorry about the light posting recently….I’ve just been too tired to post as of late…
I neglected to mention earlier that I got the chance to meet Jay of One Fine Jay last night (note: check out his new design)
It was really great to meet another blogger in person, and he’s a really cool and talented guy. I can’t wait to see the pictures he took of NYC during his visit here.
This week is actually a busy one socially for me (for a change)
I’ve got events every evening this week, so blogging will be light.
It’s ashame that this week happens to coincide with all sorts of interesting stuff going on…the (potentailly) looming NYC Transit Strike, the endocannabinoid drug discovery, the Vioxx case and medical/science ethics, among others. And did I mention that it’s damn cold here in NYC right now? Well it is.
In the interim…
Has anyone managed to figure out what the goal of Pajamas Media is?
Over at BFD it appears to have become pile on Dick Feagler day
I’d add my two cents, but I don’t think I can top what’s already been said over there
I wonder how internet-savvy Feagler even is?
The “Gathering Formerly Known as a Christmas Party” will be held Thursday, Dec 15. All bloggers in the NYC area are invited
$30 for 4 hours of Open Bar.
Proof
239 Third Ave. (20th Street)
6-10PM
(Flyer can be found here)
Don Surber points out that a Dead Pool has already gone up for Pajamas Media
That’s not a good sign…ouch!
I never really undestood the idea behind PJM as I said early on.
But I’m left to wonder, like I mentioned at a comment over at Mog’s (scroll up there for more good stuff), did they even run the site through an alpha or beta test? And not just on the techincal side–on the content side too.
Count me in amongst the ranks of those who don’t quite grasp the whole point of the new “Open Source Media” project/endeavor.
The name itself is rather lame. Upon first hearing the name, it sounds more like the title of a tech news service about…what else…Open Source Software!
Nor am I sure what exact purpose the site is to serve. Others have written their questions out better so I’ll defer to them
Tonight!
8pm at K Lounge,
30 W 52nd St between Fifth and Sixth Avenues
I’ll be there!
Argh, my nice little vacation from comment spammers seems to have finally terminated.
The stupid #!@$%*!$& spammers have returned…and while I admire some of their creativity in their faux postings, it’s just annoying to get these emails.
(Cheers however to Thunderbird for sorting out the spam!)
Heard on the radio en route to the lab this morning:
A 19-year NYPD Officer has been fired from his job as a result of the content of his blog. Supposively the cop posted stories of his daily experiences on the job, and also had a lot of criticism of Police commissioner Ray Kelley and Mayor Bloomberg
NYC Newsday: NYPD fires internal Web site founder
The site in question: “NYPD Rants” (anyone got the link?)
Updated: Link added to news story above
Thank you to the two commenters who pointed out that they found my little blog via the Daou Report.
I confess to not really reading the Daou report (just b/c I don’t like having to sit through an ad to read it–I don’t have the attention span).
But nevertheless, weclome anyway!
I think I’ve got the comments on this blog fixed up so that people no longer show up as being anonymous.
Feel free to leave a comment on this post to help test out the system.
This blog seems to be having problems with the comments again, as everyone who comments comes up as an anynomous commenter (no name or URLs)
So if you’ve left a comment, and would like it attributed to yourself, drop me a note.
I’ll also be responding to some comments I’ve recently received today
Sorry about the light posting recently–it’s just that I’ve been extremely busy in the lab recently. For examplle, on Wed. I was there for 11 hours and on an average day I spend about 9h there.
Compound that with the fact that I don’t always have access to a computer there (more people in the lab then there are computers). Not to mention the fact that most of the time I spend working (who would’ve ever imagined that?) Including working like I have been the past few days on a literature review in preparation for a manuscript.
All that boils down to is a lighter-than-usual amount of blogging.
Then again, I guess this comes at a good time, seeming how the news is rerally in an overall slump…
I’ve got a good post coming for later this evening. I’ve just got some (school) reading I want to get done first, then I’ll put up the post.
Note: It has nothing to do with the new Pope, the Church or Andrew Sullivan.
Something is apparently wrong with the comments right now…
I’m going to look into this problem
I recommend the following post by Jeff Jarvis Blogging White Male
That Newsweek article was really silly.
Now going down the slippery slope, if it’s first the White men who runs the blogs…what next…the claim that the Joooooooooos run the Blogsphere?
I’ve decided to take Frank J’s “Who the Hell Do You Think You Bloggers Are?” quiz just for kicks.
