Seeming that I’ve seen a grand total of ZERO of the pictures vying for awards this evening…can you guess how interested I am in the awards show?

Oooh…MSG has a Rangers-Sabers game on–Lundquist vs. Miller–this should be good TV instead.

Wow…today was one of those days. The patients and some doctors calling into our office gave all of us headaches today!

ouch!

Laid low today then went to Shul for megillah reading.

Was invited to a purim party for the YP group at shul, but the $50 cover charge was a bit too much for me (especially since I wouldn’t even be partaking in the open bar)….

Perhaps I shall try my hand at baking haumentashen tomorrow

So we had a good amount of snow the past 24h here in the city.

When I left the club last night at 11ish–there was already a good 2 inches or so on the ground–with more accumulating.

Woke up this morning (super exhausted) for work/gym…and looked out the window. The snow was swirling about.

’twas even worse outside. The avenues were barely plowed–and the streets–forget it. Sidewalks? Non-existent! (Save for one residential building)–everything else was covered in snow.

Yet, I persevered on and made it to the gym (for what wound up being a pretty lame workout–no energy and fatigue–was tired). Oh well. Then it was off to work, where we had a skeleton staff.

In contrast about 12 hours later, walking home from work. There were sidewalks and the streets/avenues were plowed and iced. Granted, there were still some slick spots–but it was night and day compared to the morning.

As my father would say, today’s adventure “built character”/

Tomorrow night I”ll be out at the Children of Chernobyl annual purim ball.

Not only will it be fun–but the event is for a very good cause.

Except as usual, when Cleveland wins, it’s not an honor that it wants.

This year’s “Most miserable city”–Cleveland.

Actually went out last night with some coworkers….hence the lack of any posts.

Trying to do laundry now in the building–but all the washers are occupied. even more frustrating, 80& of the occupied washers are done with thier loads! Would someone please come claim their laundry?

The Sister, in her (apparent) love of reality TV shows is currently watcing Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker.

I”ll admit–this show can be entertaining. More importantly though–it does give a good series of lessons in social skills–both what to do and not to do..

Just saying…

The apartment is back to normal….but we’ve got some leftover juice and other veverages–that at least I”m not going to touch.

ANyone want to come over and help us go through some containers of orange juice?

Do people actualy wear the clothes featured on the runways?

So I made it to work today. The commute wasn’t a problem at all.

The worst part was that the gym decided not to open until 7am. Did the gym bother telling anyone? No.

At work, a good number of people made it in surprisingly. The main source of absences were people living in Jersey, as apparently they got hit much harder then we did in the city.

The media was over-FUD’d this snow….

While dinner last night was really good and tasty–I think something I ate didn’t quite agree with my bizarre temperamental stomach. This said–it shouldn’t be taken as a criticism of the restaurant–rather it’s just my messed up physiology.

Long day at work….literally and figuratively.

The California Aunt was in town, and she took a cousin, the Sister and myself out to dinner at Noi Due

Nice place and nice company.

I’m tired though–so it’s off to bed I go…more tomorrow.

I had an almost “Office Space” like experience briefly at work these past two days. With the end of every month comes the requests from various departments for statistics on the previous month–so I must prepare all these reports.

Then today as part of an internal audit, I had to print up and coalate more reports (it was easy to do; but just mostly busywork)

Fortunately though, there was no need to attach the “new coversheet” to the reports.

The Little Brother turns 20 next Saturday.

As the older brother, I am obviously obliged to get him a gift.

Here’s the thing: he doesn’t read, and is a very inactive individual–so I refuse in principle to get him a video game (like he wants). He’s too sedentary already!

Any ideas?

Things he like include but are not limited to: trains, subways, the Yankees, the Cavs, eating (which he does too much)….

Why must you have construction crews outside jackhammering at 9pm at night?

It’s night time for goodness sakes!?!?!?!

The Jets “magical run” came to a screeching halt in the second half this evening–mostly in a demonstration of how Indianapolis had a better team.

The Jets D just couldn’t contain the Colts after giving up that TD late in the first half–and it was all downhill from there.

Now time for the NFC game…

Last night I went out to a music concert, where one of my friends, who shall be dubbed “The musical genius” (because that’s what he is)–had a guitar piece he composed performed.

The event was a combination of pieces form different local composers–some vocal some simply musical (flute, a quintet, piano).

It was nice and didn’t go on too long either (also a plus).

The office inbound phone system (or as it’s called in the industry the “voice mail”) crashed today.

As luck would have it, our guy who handles the phones was out today (tending to a home plumbing issue). Since our IT guys don’t handle the phones at all…guess who was dispatched to the server room to try and figure things out?

Armed with my cell phone, my boss sent me to the server room to try and work with our vendor to troubleshoot things.

Granted, because of some construction work going on right now at the office the server room is in a bit of dsarray–which didn’t help me much.

So the tech says to located the “voice mail computer”–whcih he says won’t be in a rack. I look at all the PCs…and well, guess what, none of the non-racked PCs are this machine.

I start searching the racks and find the machine. The tech then starts to access it remotely. He has me go run back to the desks to change the phone settings and then back ot the server room. (Little did he mention that the change he had me made totally eliminated our queue and menus–resulting in telephony chaos).

So the techs looking at the computer and he says he has to download the event log, but that it’ll take a while for him to parse through it. He sets-up a backup to get the phones going. He leaves me with the reassurance that there is a technician coming in person and that “oh, your phones will likely crash again” (*facepalm*)

So a little while later the tech comes, and I have to supervise him in the server room. We look at the computer itself and the hardware is all intact, fans running, alls well. So then the remote support department guy decides that he’s going to upgrade our software. Problem is, loading the software onto this machine for some reason took forever!. So for the next 90 minutes or so, I’m stuck around the small server room. Sigh.

At least the phones work again….for now…

The sister and I had sibling time tonight, where besides sharing workplace stories (I had heat today, she didn’t) she showed me her new favorite TV craze/show/

Something called “conveyor belt of love”. Seems like the Gong Show mixed with the dating game all taking place at a stereotypical conveyor-belt sushi place!

She (who is into this kind of this stuff) loves it. Me, while finding some parts humorous, found it a little tasteless. I’im wondering how long the show will last for.
