Movie Night
Going to take my chances sitting in an air-conditioned theater this evening to go watch “Inception” as it was recommended by friends.
Haven’t been in AC all day…will see how it goes…

The HVAC unit failed again this AM at work. 3rd time in 4 days.
Can we get some odds going on the chances it’ will/won’t fail again tomorrow?
Random office fun….
So the HVAC failed at work for the second time in three days. SIgh.
I still felt cold! The biggest downside though was having to put up with everyone’s gripes.
Pulled a 12h shift at work today somehow. Let’s not dwell on it.
Needless to say, I’m more spent than usual!
It’s July 11th (a/k/a 7/11)
That means FREE SLURPEES @ 7-11!
/Already went once today
In light of the fact that today is Father’s Day, I looked back at a lot of what I did today and realized how similar I am to my father.
-Used a lot of dad’s expressions when talking to The Brother
-Shopped at Costco
–Walked up-hill both ways with my groceries! (Builds character!)
–Had a Diet Pepsi
–Sat and read scientific journal articles
–Complained (only to myself) that i was tired and sore
–Dealt with Shpazes of the world
Wow….I’m really a lot like my father the more I think about it!
(Mom would say this is a bad thing though)
Interesting day at the World Cup…no need to elaborate on the Ref’s horrible call on a phantom foul
The big shocker was the Germans losing to the Serbs. Even more so because the Serbians, like their game against Ghana conceded a penalty kick. This time however, the opposition couldn’t convert.
Anyway, two of my friends just came back to the city for the summer, so I’m headed out to a nearby watering hole to see them. It’s been quite a while too.
Something not been feeling “right” with me as of late. Perhaps I’ve been a bit too stressed out? That’s my guess.
There’s part of me that’s thinking it may be time to go to the doctor and have some labs done–but another part of me doesn’t want to spend the time and money to do so. Perhaps the influence of work is part of my problem.
It’s an idea I’m tossing around. For the interim though I’m going to try a remedy that’s worked in the past….and just relax at that…
Could the NYS Government be shut down next week?
Would it be worse than the dysfunctional status quo?
So apparently in NYS there are still laws on the books which make adultery a criminally punishable offense
Former Governor and AG Spitzer was unavailable for comment on this story.
There’s a tornado watch in effect for the five boroughs….really? I’m used to them from Cleveland, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one here.
It’s crazy windy outside. I was planning on spending the day in the park today, but those plans were foiled by the winds. Sad thing is, I like keeping the windows in my apartment open (for ventilation) — but now the wind is unbearable. Can’t win on some things.
An anonymous comment:
Also, if Turkey’s going to complain about unwanted occupation, they should probably kiss Cyprus goodbye.
It’s funny in one of those twisted ways
I’d strategically planned for this week to be a deload week in the gym, so no working out today for me. [It's a pain to go across town on the trains like I do for work when they're running on a Sunday schedule]
Alas, my body seemed to remember that today was a Monday and wake me up super early. After a few false starts and attempts to get out of bed, I’m up and kicking.
No work today! Not sure what I’m going to do to pass the time. Besides making a trip to the drugstore for some necessary summer supplies (translation: sunscreen, aloe vera) as I’ve already turned somewhat red. I’d toyed with the idea of going to the park and running hills, but since my calves have recently hypertrophied again (a good thing) they’re causing a relapse of compartment syndrome-esque pain (bad thing) so I’m going to forgo any running.
The NCAA lacrosse championship game is also on this PM–so I’m looking forward to that. Also got 4 lbs of assorted meat/poultry to cook up for my consumption this week (chickens and turkey and bison oh my!). Nom nom nom. Alas, as I’m in Manhattan, it’s too difficult to grill, so the stove and oven (chicken) will suffice again. Not big on using the George Foreman grill anymore. It’s a pain to clean among other things.
So we’ll see what I ultimately decide to do today.
Got my first sunburn today from sitting out on the balcony and reading.
It’s official—summer is here!
Someone at work was practicing their venipuncture skills this afternoon, and so I was asked if I was willing to be stuck (with a needle). Having had this done countless times in the past, I readily volunteered.
Once in the lab room, one of the new physicians saw my arms and remarked “what nice veins you have”. I simply chuckled–as some of the other girls in the room at the time looked over and started looking.
Yes, my forearms have very clear veins, thank you very much. Not sure if I should take that as a complement though.
Finally saw the sister tonight.
She informed me that a cousin of ours will be spending the night at our humble abode. Back to cleaning
