In Youngstown, Ohio at Grandma’s for the holiday.

connectivity is extremely limited…normal blogging will resume Thursday when I return to NYC
Back in Cleveland with the family.
Corisol levels set to markedly increase
Granted, my knowledge of the ways in which Wall Street works are limited, but al this talk of a bailout has me thinking.
If some if not most of the huge $700 billion (!) bailout is going to be used to buy the morgages that banks like Lehman held–won’t that just wind up costing the taxpaer money? If some of these morgages are/were “toxic”, what good would it do for the gov’t to purchase them? Look what the did to the banks!
Any insight or clarification would be appreciated
Tonight for dinner it’s time to try a new source of lean protien: Elk.
Yes, it’s Kosher…
Wow….just wow….
At work, as things were slow, we watched Lehman’s stock as the market opened. The thing sank faster than we could imagine.
Who would’ve thought?
Meanwhile, the big question around here is what effect is Lehman’s tanking going to have on the local economy. Definitely going to mean a significant downturn in tax revenue for the city….does that mean a tax increase for the rest of us (boo!)
The Mayor expresses confidence in the situation, but I’m a bit skeptical of things right now.
Some on the Right are getting all angry over the politicis that the host of this year’s VMAs brought to the show.
My take: Who cares?
According to my coworkers, who watched the show, they said it was really dull and boring. Who the heck is Russell Bran anyway? (consensus opinion).
One of the girls went so far to say that the celebs arrival was even better than the show itself.
They also agreed that Pink performed really well. The only disagreement the girls seemed to have was over Rhianna’s performance. One girl said she didn’t sing well, while another (an adnitted Rhisanna fan girl) praised the performance.
Still, who the heck is Russel Bran?
“They’re playing the song “Celebration” in the background…Suddenly this convention [RNC] sounds like every Bar Mitzvah I’ve ever been to”–Fox 5 (NY) reporter at the XCel center.
Stopped by the butcher tonight to get some meat for dinner. They didn’t have any good lean beef, so I got some bison instead.
Damn that stuff is good!
Any insights on Elk?
For some reason I’m feeling a bit low right now. Really don’t know why.
It’s that kind of feeling where one just feels like they could use a good slap upside the head. Yeah…that would do it.
Suggestions?
It’s what’s for dinner on this glorious Meat Monday (Yes, I often plan my dinners by the first letter of the day of the week).
Beef! Beef! Beef!
Why would a gym host a happy hour at a bar? As alcohol is not condusive to weight loss/muscle gain, doesn’t it seem a bit odd for a gym to be promoting this?
Half the department was out today….quite overwhelming…
Thank goodness for sleep on the weekends.
Anyone else tried that new search enginge Cuil?
I don’t like how it displays the results. Nor do I like how inaccurate many of the results are compared to Google. Then there were the reports of its downtime as well.
Schwarzenegger Terminates Trans Fats
Granted, as one of the experts quoted in the article said:
“Perhaps the biggest issue,” said Keith-Thomas Ayoob, associate professor in the Pediatrics Department at Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, “is how much of the foods do we even need to be eating? Is this going to change obesity? No, because you’re swapping out one fat for another, the calories are the same. Would it be more beneficial for our hearts? Maybe.”
Still won’t stop people who don’t care about their diets from eating poorly.
Finished Hypertrophy I this morning and my whole body feels spent. Exhausted all day and everything.
On the plus side, my coconut cauliflower mash turned out great!
