Pointless Protest

Filed under: Moonbats and Wingnuts,New York City — Jaws @ 1:32 pm

Al Sharprton has revealed some of his plans to protest the Sean Bell verdict

What puzzles this individual is what exactly is tying up traffic going to do for one’s cause? Traffic is already tied up in most places to begin with. Did one take into account the needs of emergency vehicles to get through? Second, if you’re looking to win “hearts + minds” to your cause–this is hardly the way to do it.

Third, how are people who are employed going to suddenly “appear” for these demonstrations? Fourth–why have a demonstration at 125th and 3rd–in Harlem, where Sharpton more likely has a base of support to begin with. And if as Sharpton’s supporters claim that what the police did was “murder”, why weren’t there protests after the grand jury only handed down manslaughter indictments?

It’s not worth contemplating the lack of logic behind this…as this is Al Sharpton we’re talking about here.

Sharpton’s Hot Air

Filed under: Moonbats and Wingnuts,New York City — Jaws @ 1:34 pm

Because the judicial system didn’t give him the verdict he wanted, Al Sharpton is threatening to “Shut down NYC”

*Yawn!*

First off, there’s no way he’ll shut down the City. The MTA strike didn’t even accomplish that.

Second, the legal system has run its course. If he wants to protest or complain about anything, he should take it up with the Queens DA for the poor case he made.

Third–why does the media keep covering this man’s bellicose rhetoric?

Zeitgeist–Thoughts

Filed under: Moonbats and Wingnuts — Jaws @ 3:31 pm

So, since I’m bored, may as well watch/listen to the DVD the co-worker gave me “Zeitgeist”

Off the bat, the first strike is the DVD image, which has a star of david shape on it. That’s not a good sign.

Part one of this film seems to be a tirade against religion, especially modern religion. *Yawn* Not going to convince me of much. I’m well rooted and versed in my faith, thank you very much. It looks like more of a direct attack on Christianity. Again, this isn’t anything too new to me, having taken some courses which examined relgiion in the Ancient Near East while in college. The crux of the film’s arguments seem sto be that everything having to do with Jesus have to do with astrology (or is it astronomy?). Wasn’t the Julian calendar a solar calendar?

Thsi whole part of the film is best left to the Christians to take argument with. *Yawn* Boring….

Uh, the whole thing about the Jews blowing the rams horn as a symbol for Moshe as Taurus the bull is so totally wrong. Wrong! Wrong! They conveniently “forget” the whole akedah (Abraham going to sacrifice Isaac)

Silly conspiracy film. I’m waiting for them to break out some hard core “Bible Codes”. Goofy Gematria ftw!

Part 2 is now begining, It’s 9/11 Truther crap. Let me go get myself some tinfoil to make a hat out of.

All I’ve got to say about the “claims” this film is making is that everything has been debunked over at Screw Loose Change.

Screw Loose Change has taken the extensive effot to debunk all the claims.

That said, the tactic of using “live reports” to bolster one argument, especially when during these live reports, people are expressing their speculations is in no way solid “proof”.

Tangnetal thought: Anyone else enjoy watching those videos on TV of building demolitions? Especially the ones that are documentary based where they go with the demoilition tems and show how it’s done? [must be a guy thing]

Oooh–the video has Goodwined itself.

Part III is now starting on the whole Central Bank conspiracy. Goes itno the talk of debt and so on and so forth. The super secret JP Morgan creates the Federal Reserve spookiness thing.
Here comes the whole 16th ammendment not ratified thing. Income tax isn’t constitutonal, etcetera, etcetera. Here’s a good debunking of the income tax myths.

Now comes some more garbage about how the bankers secretly wanted the US to get into WWI. Apparently the Luisitania was a set-up? No mention of the Zimmerman Telegraph though.

WWII conspiracy talk–that Pearl Harbor was provoked, etc. The other garbage too. Thankfully, no Holocaust denial.

Vietnam conspiracies now. Claims: Gulf of Tonkin was staged, bankers funded both sides, etc. The one fair point is that the ROE sucked for US troops. Blah blah blah///

Some more Goodwining, and claims that the Bill of Rights is being ruined by the Feds….*yawn*…….same old canard.

Now the video goes off on the DOE and that the government is deliberately making kids stupid via the schools. Better idea: leave Education to the States/Local governments (just saying).

Oooh…now we’re on the North American Union thing. They slippery slope this claim into the “One World Government” idea.
(Gotta go get me even more tin foil). The Council of Foreign relations as the global cabal.

ZOMG! Everybody panic !1!!!!Eleventyone!1!!!

Wow….I want these past 2 hours of my life back please….

Loose Changing…

Filed under: Moonbats and Wingnuts — Jaws @ 8:10 pm

So the discussion amongst some of the girls at work this morning was all about “Loose Change” and 9/11 conspiracy theories.

They mostly harped on the idea that it was a missile rather than a plane that hit the Pentagon, and they maintained that Flight 93 was shot down via a SAM.

Uh…yeah…..

There are times when its better to keep one’s mouth shut, and this discussion was definitely one of those.

On the positive side, there was no mention of: Jews, Neo-cons, Mossad, Zionist conspiracy, PNAC, etc.

Here’s one crazy idea of how the Palestinians may celebrate the day they term the naqba

PA urges Palestinians to ‘return’

The Palestinian Authority is planning to mark Israel’s 60th anniversary by calling on all Palestinians living abroad to converge on Israel by land, sea and air….

The plan specifically refers to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, whose governments are asked to provide logistic support to allow the refugees to carry out their mission.

One can only imagine what the Jordanian government things of the idea of more Palestinians in their country–especailly on the border. The same goes for the Lebanese, who still remember the 1980s…

Loose changers…

Filed under: Moonbats and Wingnuts,New York City — Jaws @ 8:57 pm

Somehow, the discussion at work today got around to the subject of the Times Square Bomber and then turned to 9/11.

My coworkers then started talking about how they’ve been influenced by Loose Change, and think it was all a government set-up, and it’s ultimately about oil.  They went on to praise “Loose Change”, claim a conspiracy that it was yanked from Google Video and that the government controls “sleeper cells” domestically.
From experience, I’ve learned when there are times to just keep my mouth shut and display passive ignorance. (Especially as the token male in a group of females)  This was one such time.  Oh definitely…
At least they didn’t try to play the Jews/Israel did it theory.  In that case, I would’ve had to given them a full re-education.

As a rule of thumb, I don’t discuss politics at the office (besides my general statements that most politicians are corrupt and that dealing with Medicare/NGS has been a pain in the behind recently)   This is the kind of reason why.

Because slowing down America’s economy will have what kind of effect on society?

Pita Strip

Over at Sandbox, Martin Kramer does a simple calculation and determines that some propagandists are claiming that the average Gazan needs 0.5 tons of flower/day.

That’s a whole lot of pita bread!

Is this not further proof that Liberal Arts majors really need a mathematics requirement?

Whining in Waltham

Filed under: Brandeis,Moonbats and Wingnuts — Jaws @ 8:39 pm

The hyper-liberals at Brandeis are whining again, this time over university President Reinharz’s (correct–imho) decision to arm the campus police.

First there’s the new campus group against having armed police who petitioned President Reinharz.
Even the Justice editorial board seems to be carping about the decision

Oh, just another day in the Brandeis bubble where the gun boogy-man seems to prevail.  Must be a Massachusets thing.

The lamest argument has to be this one from the editorial:

But we admit that there are potentially harmful consequences of having guns on campus, such as the promotion of a culture of fear and anxiety, as well as the possibility of weapon abuse by some officers.
